Those are some very nice clips. I dont even have the Expert At The Card table book. I have to pick that up soon.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

@Dazzleguts, I don't have the clip. Yes, it is a Joe Porper clip and pattern is electroplated coated on it. If I remember right : there were only 2 of these clips produced (ordered by the Buck twins). Don't worry about the price, we don't have the chance to own them...

That is actually good news as I would have been tempted..

Vintage card clips, and the best of my vintage and antique decks.
The last pic is of a partial deck found in a box of World War II photos. It is a mini deck, and since there are no indexes it may be older than the 1940s. If anyone has any information that may help me identify these cards I would really appreciate it.

This might not help as much, but I found the same deck with a white back in an canceled auction.

Many thanks Don Boyer, this is the first lead I have had, and I have had these cards for 2 years! I will try to contact the seller, but since this is a listing from 2010, and it says the seller is no longer active, I may get nowhere. They place the cards as Victorian, which doesn't narrow the year down much but confirms the 1800s. How did you come across this?

Just type in the company name and you'd probably find some links to auctions and purchases. I had a try but couldn't find too much information on the deck itself, so I couldn't validate that it's the 1800's. As for Victorian, it may just be the style of the design, not necessarily the time period at which it was produced.

I did a Google search using the company name, deck brand and "playing cards".  There's astonishingly little around about the company - if it was a 20th-century firm, I'd wager there'd be better records of its existence.  It would not surprise me at all to learn they're from the 19th century at the least, and on the auction piece, I'm betting that wasn't the original packaging it came with - were snaps like that even around in the Victorian era?

Can't wait! Don't keep them to yourself, show the others too! We aren't competing for the oldest deck or anything. Any vintage would be a great addition to this compilation of history!

@digipunk,
I'm thinking this is from a single collector? A trade? I like the Golden Nugget btw. ;)

I got them from different sellers and directed them to the leading character of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part-I. There had been more than 40 decks at his place, so we thought it's time to send them to me with a medium box. The Arrco Service and Uncle Sam were mentioned in the previous posts (the Uncle Sam deck has a free-of-tax stamp). :t11:

I've been gaining an interest in vintage decks but they're expensive and I can barely afford the cards that I buy now  :mindf-ck:

Interesting. Looks like these weren't for sale, but actual use in Duke University.

I purposely showed the back in the last pic, do you know what the name of the back is?

I think they are Jewish Stars and Snowflakes... aka: Hannukah & Christmas Backs... hahaha... The only place these two religions could find harmony... The back of a playing card...

On a more serious note... Aren't they the same design as the Bicycle Holiday Backs?

Very similar, but it's impossible for the name to be called Holiday backs ;)
