I came across this site and thought that since it involves playing cards, cars, toys, & art, some people might enjoy it... http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/18981/race-cards-by-dor-keenan.html

I really like them, and if I can find a price, I will maybe buy one. I love their Salvador Dali-esque look.

Interesting. There are just project proposals aren't they? I don't think they were actually ever produced for sale to the general public.  :(

I was thinking the same thing. Also, these aren't normal cards, they are deformed ones!

Lol I'm yet to see more of your car collection. So far think I've seen about 4 disney-related transforming cars.  :D

Those are dope! I really like how they took the classic pull back car design and redesigned it with a twist! That really is a one of a kind toy right there  :D

Those can't actually be made out of cards...
But they're still really cool!

Well no... it's more that the outer shell is made out to look like a playing card. Surely it isn't a playing card turned into a car haha  :P

The transformers are not 'collection' in my definition, they are toys and... not rare at all :o

I spent time, money and efforts to collect many series of mini cars (and quit the crazy hobby about 3 years ago). As always, there is a story behind every single car. I don't think people here are interested in these Japanese cars, so I won't take pics of them. Most of them were produced by Takara Tomy several year ago and, of course, limited.

sxjy0109 you must know there was a piece of Taiwan history about Japan, but you probably don't understand why Taiwanese don't hate Japan (especially old Taiwanese, they hate KMT more). I say this because I found so many Taiwan people were moved by the 2008 movie "Cape No. 7", while China people were completely indifferent to it.

Back to the topic, the mini cars I collect were produced several years ago, but they are all "vintage-look" cars and I had to spend much time doing research on their historical background. They remind me of the era that people worked hard for a hopeful future. For example, these are few of them I just found on eBay (as I said earlier, they are limited, most of them can not be found on eBay):

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=choro+q+k360

I used Google to find more:
http://www.pockyland.net/redirect.php?tid=1436
http://goods.itempost.jp/detail/2/PA01071897/23790833

but they are... still a small part of my collection.

Wow.. I found this pic, it is a real car (in Taiwan Story Land, Taipei)

Oh trust me, I know way more about Taiwan and about its relation to Japan more than you would imagine.

I used to buy those Takara Tomy cars when I was young (and by that, I mean before middle school). But it was more of the Tomica series. Lol anyone would have a hard time imaging a 10-year-old boy starting to collect rare toy cars. If I did, I probably would own quite a fortune now.

I like the way you collect, how you'd find out the stories behind each piece. It really makes one and every single one of them unique and worthwhile (lol scenes of an old man taking our his collection, and tell each of its story to his grandchildren flashes in my mind).

When you say they're a small part of your collection, do you mean you collect in many other areas, or you've got thousands of other mini cars

EDIT: I posted in wrong thread :o

@sxjy0109, so you might be interested in Seediq Bale too. It was another part of history in that era and you might have to do little research before watching it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edWKz9N6oO0

I collected several series of Choro-Q and they have really wonderful market prices now. I also have many TOMICA, TOMYTEC, and EBBRO cars. I don't know how many mini cars I own, but fortunately I quite this pricey hobby early :-[

Wrong thread?

I'm yet to watch that movie. I didn't get a chance to catch it in the cinema while it was still on screen. Now I have to wait until the DVD comes out. I've also got many movies released during the Christmas time on my to-watch-list.

Anyway, we should carry on this topic in another board. It's getting irrelevant from the original post in the thread.

So yes, race cards. I'm interested in the back design. I wonder if the designer put a lot of effort in designing the bottom of the car(d)s. Maybe he's a fellow collector!
