Over the last few days ive noticed that my fame has been going down. Being as I honestly don't post all that much, just on the topics that really interest me, i went back and checked the threads that i posted on.

It seemed as though someone just went down the most recent page of each other those threads and down famed everyone that loaded on that page. WTF people. already trolling.

(i have a feeling im about to get a ton of down votes on this lol)

Fame is still in beta, Alex specifically asked to abuse it for testing purposes. Nothing to worry about here.

For example take a look at Don's fame. He had 140 a couple days ago and now he is down to 20+...
And I was at 39 and now I'm down to -48... LOL

What you highlighted is exactly the reason it doesn't matter yet - the fame will be reset once V2 is up for everyone. Abusing it is part of the testing.

As for the penalties, I think it was something about your influence gradually going down the more you use it. There was a lot more to it, but it'd probably be too complicated to discuss here.

Like people said, the fame's going to be reset when V2 becomes available for the public. Don't worry about it too much, cause Alex did ask those in V2 right now to play around with it, and randomly upfame/downfame people. I'm guessing that person may be just playing with it, and possibly trying to get the badge (even though it may not be working right now, it still could be counted in the system)?

Alex has himself said that he's intentionally bashing and raising people's fame as part of the beta test. Right now, your fame number means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, so treat it accordingly.

Also, Alex mentioned that you should feel free to upfame and downfame people like crazy to help him with the beta test. Go ahead, have a blast.

If forced to guess, I don't think he'd allow the current up-/downfaming to be counted when V2 goes live, for the same reason that our fame numbers don't count right now.

i know the fame doesn't matter now; i was just more so wondering about the penalties when v2 is live for everybody.

i wonder if discourse profile information will carry over to the aether cards web site when it is finished.

Abuse the heck out of it for now. Thanks to this "troll" I was able to see a huge flaw in one of the calculations.

Fame will be reset sooner or later, so don't worry about it.

The penalties in v2 are that if you begin to abuse it, you start losing Fame. The less Fame you have, the less significant your downvotes are.

I could imagine how tedious it is for you guys to be cpding and doing the math for the discourse forums. But kudos to you and peuan and the rest!

I noticed when I hit negative numbers in my Fame, my downvotes became upvotes instead! Interesting feature of the system, really!

Actually, that's a french fry. I believe the in-photo caption reads "French fries have feelings too." In person, he bears only a passing resemblance to his icon photo! I could probably say the same, though the hat makes me distinctive and easier to spot if I'm wearing it.

I think Nathan's mentioned that some while ago when his fame hit negative numbers. He's also concluded that when you hit downfame on someone, you actually raise their fame, and vice versa.

Peuan commented on another topic that this is actually a system glitch - fame isn't supposed to go into negative numbers!

How the heck did you go from 130 to 320 fame in 12 hours? It must be a glitch, but, anyways, enjoy that badge while it lasts!

PS: Don, look at me. My fame is also negative, worse than what you ever had! And now that yours is repaired, I still am at -100

I think many people got a fame boost. I myself got +60, whilst it looks like Don's got the negative sign taken off (that's +120). I'm not sure why it hasn't happened with you. I'm thinking it's the mods playing around with the numbers and testing whether they could manually alter each member's fame.

Actually... I randomly upfamed and downfamed people last night. ^_^ I got don out of his negatives and some like Brown_baggs I got to over 200+++ and others up to 150++ yeah! Although Nathan. I dunnno why yours are still negative. But oh well..

Here is something though. I got the badge for 125x upfame/downfames a day badge but not the 25x upfame/downfame badge. How is that possible? LoL! I guess more glitches, well that it the reason for the testing of the site features.
