Yes yes and more yes! I thought the same thing you did but once I actually got a Porper clip I was glad I did. It has paid for itself, protecting and repairing decks

I got some cardclip made in china. It was about $7 but not beautiful as proper.
But all I want is something to protect my deck.

You can build a card press for less than a dollar with 2 bits of wood/plastic and 4 nuts and bolts...  I dunno, I agree that card clips are useful but I seriously think they're very overpriced.

Not a card clip like that. This is thin but strong piece of metal.

i purchased one of the D&d porper clips and it JACKS up the box of the cards, but it will get any kind of crimp or bend out of any card.

im thinking about getting one of the "M" frame porper clips as well.
have you heard the word???

It does exactly the same thing.  I got a 'thin but strong' metal bottle opener free with a 6-pack, there's no reason for them to be so expensive.

I have 3 official porpers, one original joe porper, one dnd 1st ed porper and another of these I got free from a DnD lecture a few years ago, they were just giving them away so why not hey. My main problem is the scratching up of the box and it happens for all my decks, maybe if you got one from 'E' then they would be better for keeping the box in good shape as sinsandman has said. If you don't want one of those what I do is put the deck/cards I want to go into the porper into an old tuck case thats already beat up and then leave them in the porper for a while until it does it's magic. That way you get to fix your cards and you wont scratch up your nice tuck boxes.

@Haw, I got the E size clip and it is awesome. @Head, that is an excellent idea for repairs only, if you're not taking them to perform. Would look odd pulling some BG from a riderback box lol

That because E's deck usually thicker than others.

@Hitler, I haven't had experience with the D&D clips...I bet that $100 one is bangin though.
@Haw, The ss ones have a bad rep for scratching the tuck box...be sure to sand the edges if you go that route
