I was thinking of making one like that too, in purple leather with a little bonus. ::)
It looks really nice, and definitely much cheaper.
Anyone knows how much lizard skin actually costs?

That's really cool! I will try it but will you be able to make a tutorial? Also, is it possible to put leather on the inside of the clip?

Umm, the question is not can you, but why would you?  It wouldn't look exceptionally great, and it would be near impossible to get any deck in.

Clips like that are sized very precisely, so it would not be possible to put anything on the inside area. I'd think that any pliable material, some quality spray adhesive and a little trimming would give you a decent result when covering. I have some carbon fabric laying around, should give that a try.

It would possibly prevent boxes from getting damaged from tight clips.

But the problem is your deck won't fit, most decks won't fit in a Porper with all 56 cards, yet alone a millimeter or two of leather multiplied 2x inside the clip.

Well I own a replica porper that can fit a deck without problem, and can fit more when widened. I think it would be possible, and I would like to try it. I would put the leather on the inner sides only. Actually I just tried putting a think cotton piece inside my porper, held tight against the sides, and then I put my deck. It fight nice and snuggly without damaging the deck. I might post pics.

Correct. We were talking about Nathan, because he said he wanted to put leather inside the clip, so thats why we said it would effect the capacity of the clip inside.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
Well Dan Buck is a little angry: https://twitter.com/#!/danbuck/status/193531171047612416

Guys, pardon my language, but where in the fuck does the pot come off calling the motherfucking kettle black?!?

He's the LAST man on EARTH (besides his brother) with a right to bitch - he's just jealous that he didn't price his higher and sell them out that fast!  Those two started this little ride to the overpriced section of Crazytown, and now he's pissed that someone else got on board and took it not just further, but SUCCESSFULLY further?

What a hypocrite.  A smart businessman would have simply congratulated David Blaine and offered to sell D&D clips to those who got shut out of the DBlaine sale...  But no, he took the low road and let his emotions get the better of him.  In my eyes, he looks very foolish right now.  (Not that he gives a crap what I have to say; after all, I'm just a customer, one who's still waiting for the greatest customer support on earth to answer an email I left over five days ago...)
Just simply because you didnt get magic con 2 decks and that's why you rant about everything they do. They have the rights to rant about it. Don't you think $350 is "alittle" bit overpriced? Fuck me dude i'd buy a LV wallet.

If you read that tweet, he tagged it as cheap and inferior, making unfounded accusations and pushing his products as better.  That has nothing to do with MC2 decks and everything to do with Mr. Buck whining that Blaine's making more money on those clips using a concept he's been pushing to the masses.

David Blaine tweets this:

For serious card guys only. Very limited amount of high end Porper clips will be available within the hour. http://pic.twitter.com/xyU6aiEf

and Dan Buck tweets this:

$350 for a fucking card clip? #overpriced #madeinchina #unoriginal. Buy the real deal (hand made in the U.S.A.) at http://shop.dananddave.com

because Dan knows David went to China with Joe Porper and had a bunch of Chinese laborers bend some metal and slap leather on it in their names...  Especially since there's no such thing as a Garment District in New York City, practically at Blaine's doorstep, where he can get the leather he needs and have it expertly glued to damn near anything for a reasonable price...

Dan Buck just demonstrated a military-grade case of sour grapes, period.  Go buy all the LV wallets you want, it won't change that.

I'm really dying to know what David and his crew thought when they read that tweet, 'cause I'm sure someone passed it on to him if he didn't find it on his own already.  Seriously, Dan's response had all the class of a sandbox temper tantrum.

If you stuck leather inside
It will hard to put deck in an original joe porper clip

I think the hard part is to find some where to buy leather
You can ask for leather store for tutorial :)

But for emboesswd word on leather
It is another hard part :(

I get what he's thinking of - having the deck held inside by a softer, pliable material other than metal.  But leather would be a little too "grippy" to be practical.  In addition, you'd need to modify an existing Porper to have a wider gap or make a new clip designed for a larger deck in the first place.

I think a layer of something like microfiber would work better in this instance, especially if it's been "sueded" - by brushing the fiber with fine needles, you can break just enough of the fibers to give the surface a soft, suede-like feel and appearance with none of the disadvantages of actually using suede.  I have a jacket from that material and it's incredibly soft.

HOWEVER...

Then you run into the issue of what do you do when the fabric, leather, whatever you choose as your inside layer, gets dirty and needs to be cleaned...

I think sticking to a plain metal or wood clip and keeping it clean works better.
