The frames were purchased at an arts and crafts store called "Michael's". If you don't happen to have that exact store around then I would suggest going to what ever local craft store you might have. The frames are called "shadow frames", the are basically picture frames with depth so you can put thick objects in them. They tend to come with a glass front but I just remove them so I can add and move decks in the frames.

After I have the frame, I then go to a hardware store and pick up some MDF (medium density fiberboard) trim that I can cut down to size and glue/nail into place. Then I spray paint everything black. Hope this helps, if you have anymore questions feel free to PM me.

@overflight - If I'd were you I'd use something mentioned above, a shoebox, and slowly upgrade the case as your collection raises. I have a little piece of "furniture" that I use to store my cards,

Try using Aladdins - they're made for hot, humid climates. I used to live in Fort Lauderdale, back in '89/'90.

Also invest in a deck press and some fanning powder. Tannen's has them reasonably priced.

Nice box, but not terribly practical!

I started with a single briefcase, with an expandable bottom. Upgraded to two briefcases, the new one being larger and sturdier. Then I was using both briefcases. Now, I'm up to a small bookcase, with the briefcase for hauling trick decks and regular decks for solitaire to work. It has a nice drawer near the center for hiding the "special" decks and oversized goodies.

If I did something like that, my girlfriend would kick me out! One bedroom apartment, three residents (her, her younger son, me). Crowded a little, but very cozy. She supports my habit - er, I mean "hobby" - but worries over the slightest little thing I bring into the apartment for fear we won't be able to move anymore.

This may seem really strange, but I just found out the the bottom of "Velveta" cheese boxes fit cards perfectly without givin the decks a cheesy smell.

Ask him. I see a nice shadow frame of sorts, or is it just a lidded wooden box? There's a briefcase there as well, with padding as if for camera gear. I wish I could find the good ones (at a reasonable price) that have the pluck-out foam for custom shapes. I had an awesome one for my old GameBoy collection, held the machine, a boatload of carts and a few accessories...

For storage I'm currently using boxes similar to this. 400 count cardboard storage box. Just about any place that sells collectable card singles (M:tG, Pokemon) should have something similar.
I can get 9 or 10 decks, in their boxes, in a 400ct box. Cheap and dirty storage.
Some of these displays are making me drool. I have to look into getting a shadow box for my nicer stuff.

I really, really do love the shadow boxes, but the limited wall space and limited storage space in each box makes them less practical for me. Not to mention my girlfriend would truly want to kill me.

I did see a beautiful display case in a furniture store that's got me drooling a bit. Wood-framed glass doors and sides in a case that's a little taller than me and about a yard wide (just short of a meter for the metrically-inclined). But as gorgeous as that is, I don't think it would be as capacious as the bookcase I'm using now. More attractive, perhaps, but not as many cubic inches/meters/cubits/whatevers...

and it's easy to carry, too. With the dimensions given on the site, I could fit 54 decks(6x3x3).

i sorta have my own shadow frame, its just a wooden carry tray which i have added shelves into to hold my cards, but i need to put in like a sheet of plexi-glass with hinges because when it is upright most of my decks fall out, anyone can give me advice about it?

Maybe you could add triangle pieces to the back so it stands at an angle, then the decks wouldnt fall anymore...

i took a wood draw and lined the bottom with more wood and then cut up a colectors addition game to make it lif down and slot back in so the cards are behind see thorugh plastic it look so awesome ill put a pic up after i add the fultons to it =D

Until I get a display built, I store my cards in a metal case & some gift boxes I purchased.

Here are the gift boxes I purchased from the dollar store for $2 each. There are VERY rigid. You can see from the photos that they hold 51 decks perfectly in the bottom, and another 18 on top (leaving a bit of space) for a total of 69 decks per box! Not bad for 2 bucks.

They stack perfectly.

And the metal case holds exactly 100 decks...

Gosh, I'm so jealous. xD Pictures like that are what inspire me to keep collecting!
I'm currently just keeping my cards in a shoe box in my room; my family would murder me if I put up a display case anywhere but in my room, and that's already packed full of stuff, including most of the walls. But once my collection gets a little too much for just a shoe box, I'll certainly consider getting some kind of framed display case or something of the sort.

My parents bought me a cabinet that I wanted for Christmas. It only came in white though. So, I'm currently sanding it down and gonna paint it black. Once its painted I will then assemble it and I am also gonna install LED Puck lights inside the cabinet for lighting. The shelving inside the cabinet is glass which I thought would look nice with the lights inside. I plan on storing all my cards, magic dvd's, books, and AIP bottles inside. Hopefully it will look really sharp when I'm done. I will post pics when its finished.
