Haters who hate, leave now please.

Anyways, Ive been thinking about this for a while, I have finished packaging all of my product that is being shipped out ( I just need to print th elabels and we should be good to go, probably have them shipped tommorrow ) . Anyways I discovered something, I have quite a few bent / sorta messed up decks I need to get rid of ( close to 50 ).

The biggest issue is that I said Id only print 35 of the gold decks, but I had to print around 100. This is where I need your guys help, should I just burn them all, which would look cool out of respect to my backers, or take off the cellophane wrapping and mark them with a big red x in permanent marker, and sell them as throw away decks?

I think you should do neither. I was one of your backers, and I don't think it's a big deal you printed too many. Just apologize, and anyways, 100 is still very limited. What you should do IMO is make a little sign on them differentiating the extra 65 from the official 35, and either donate them to charity, or send them to Don, so he can perform magic to kids in hospitals with them and then give them away. That way you are sure they aren't resold and they aren't wasted either. Plus Don loves decks printed by Rajas' company, so he probably wouldn't mind performing with these and giving them to kids in need.

Hmmm good idea... However I needed to print 100, not because I wanted to I dont think it warrents an apology, as long as I dispense of them in an acceptable way. Ill think on giving them to don, hopefully Ill have enough money after shipping to do that.

As someone who paid extra for a gold deck, I would have a problem with the extras getting out into the market without any distinguishing marks, but I don't see any reason to destroy them. I like the idea of giving them to Don.

Thats what I was considering doing by marking all the extras with a big red X, in permenant ink, on the actual box, not the plastic wrapping. ( cellophane I believe)

If you're willing to donate perfectly good decks of cards, I'd be more than pleased to accept.  The kids in the hospital would love them, I'm sure.  Do the marker "X" on the back so they're distinguishable from the collectible version and call it the charity version.  Or if you really want to cancel them, take a drill press and drill a hole through the center of the deck, like casinos used to do before they switched to cutting corners - I hate the corner cuts because they're never done consistently and then you end up with odd-sized cards.

Don't destroy the decks. I love the idea of making it like a charity deck just like everyone else said. Give it to Don for his sweet children from the hospital. They will really appreciate it. Mark it. Maybe you want to use those UV markers, the ones that can only be seen in ultra violet light. At least that way it wont really ruin the whole look of the box but it will still be differentiated from the others. ^-^

Or you can use it as a giveaway. Post some contests and what not. It would be a great way to create more publicity for your company or whatever.

Anything buy throwing the cards away.

I don't think making a big red cross on the face is a good idea. Maybe you could write something like (extra) on the box, but putting a cross on the deck and then giving it to kids, although a good intention, it may be taken by some including the kids as if they were given some extra, unwanted trash, and we don't want them to feel that way!

Thats a really good Idea, or I could write it in invisible ink or something, but Yea, Ill write extra instead of an x like nathancanadas said.

@Don You backed my deck right? I guess Ill just send these to that adress then. How many do you use? I guess youd be able to use all 65 eventually...

Invisible ink also seems like a good idea to me!
I think I can also answer that question for Don. He uses and gives away a bit less than 2 Gross of decks a year. 244 decks in 365 days, that's a bit less than one deck each day. So 65 decks would last him about 3 months if he only uses your decks. However I'm pretty sure he'll alternate using your deck and streamlines, your deck being a luxury compared to those, so once in a while the kids would have an even better surprise!

Last week I went through nine decks.  Typical week is 5-6 decks.

I'm glad its going to be put to good use instead of just throwing them away.

Reagan, I'm really happy you decided to go that way, towards charity. I'm sure the kids will love your deck, especially since it's very different from the Streamlines Don usually uses. Don, I'm glad you've got a little extra "push" of support!

Thanks, Lara.  Just don't tell my fiancee - she's very jealous!  :))

Thanks.  Actually, it's only recently that I'm using Streamlines.  My previous decks of choice were some uncanceled, unused Gemaco casino decks.  Got a gross and a half at less than $0.50 a deck on eBay, including the shipping.
