Ah! - Now that clearer pics have been posted, I am far more impressed with the deck. I love the idea of a flipbook animation and I adore the coloration with the court cards. I officially can say that I can't wait until the deck makes its full premier. Thank Evan!

I agree. I was scared TBC would start creating mediocre decks from now on, but seeing this one more clearly gives me hope again. The coloration looks very nice, and the back, although similar to Reagan M.'s Steampunk deck, is very cool.

Thanks for that quick video Evan, I really do like the animation on this deck. Even with the small number of cards it still looks quite cool, can't wait to see it with an entire pack

I went to my local magic club today and one of my friends there actually had received these in the mail. pictures definitely don't do the cards justice! But more than the colors the animation was CRAZY realistic! I think my order just went from 2 decks to 6

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
Well, faces look pretty standard, ugly back, AoS will probably be reminiscent of T11 Steampunk AoS which I didn't like to much, and I don't like flip-book back designs. Pass.

I was one of the 52 and got sent the spade suit.  No, the ace is nothing like the Steam Punk deck.

"Fixing Games since 2012" sounds like a sly reference to the classic card man's definition of a mechanic - a sleight-of-hand artist who uses his skills to fix poker games.  The spades also have the "rugged" look Evan mentioned, but it's less visible on black.

I'll try posting pics later today.

The better pics are making this one look a lot more appealing. Seems like a better version of what the T11 Steampunk deck wanted to be when it grew up. The corner radius on the back still distracts me to no end though..

Introducing the Ace of Spades. Designed by Jimmy K , this custom ace features elements from the back design as well as the mechanic logo in the center. One of our favorites so far! #3moredays

Is it me or is that middle piece overused in this deck? It seems as though it on every design in the deck. It's not the best looking "logo" either. For the back design I understand but why put it on everything else?

Perhaps because it best suits the deck's theme?

I agree. I find it very repetitive and not very attractive either. Too simple for a "mechanic deck", a deck supposed to represent complicated parts in objects.

The repetitive pattern represents gears and gear chains in motion, that's all.  Because they're very similar, unlike the Fantastique deck, they don't necessarily have to be in order to give the illusion of motion.

BTW: I could be wrong, but I think the card backs may hide a marking system, in which case you do want the back looking very similar to each other.

Hey guys!  Thanks to everyone for all of the various feedback.  Only about 7 hours left until the deck goes live!

The deck was designed by Jimmy K of Mechanic Industries.  All credit for the design/artwork goes to him.  Just as Russell Kercheval gets credit for the Americana deck, etc.  The logo you see throughout the deck is the official logo for Mechanic Industries.

In regards to the samples we sent out - we're always trying to look for fun ways to get the word out, and give back to our customers.  We chose 52 HOPC customers to receive a Mechanic "flipbook" made up of 13 cards.  We did something similar back when we launched the first Blue Crown deck in 2011.

It's always easier for us to not do things like this.  It's less work, and allows us to make sure that all of the first images/videos people see are up to our high standard of quality.  I can understand that when seeing a brief snapshot of a few cards, people may not love a design.  Like I said, we like to mix it up.  Stay tuned for the future, because you never know when YOU might get a surprise package from HOPC!

Trust me, it is hard for photos to do justice to this deck.  The back design (in addition to having the animation) has a TON of detail and depth.  The color scheme on the face cards is muted and gritty.  While other decks have used similar color schemes, none have face designs quite like those on the Mechanic Deck.

The deck is launching at 8PM eastern tonight.  As with our last launch, we will be offering 3 sweet raffle prizes, plus double points for our monthly Jerry's Nugget raffle during the first 48 hours, so make sure you get your orders in before Thursday night!  We chose our first Nugget winner yesterday, and look forward to choosing more winners throughout the year!

Hey guys!  Yup, Jimmy's Mechanic product line is AWESOME.  The coins in particular are really sweet.

The site is Jimmy's site - totally dedicated to the Mechanic brand.

I like how this Jimmy K guy thinks. All of these items and prints look sweet!!

The Back Design looks like it was done as a 3d Model, especially in the Art Print posted above.
If that's true there's probably a digital animation to compliment the card's flip-book style animation.

thanks, Randy

Wow! This entire adventure is completely amazing! I love the fact of creating a bundle just like that to accompany the already amazing deck. The coins are probably what I like the most about the bundle. There's probably going to sell uncuts, right?
