I think that mirroring works pretty well, actually. However, now that I'm really thinking about it, the overall art style and theme of the illustrations doesn't exactly match the neo-victorian-curly motif. We've seen that motif used a lot lately and it is very attractive, but I think there needs to be a valid reason for it's use, not just because it looks interesting. The illustrations are very fantastical and aggressive and I don't feel like that mixes very well with the delicate curls.
Just some designery thoughts.
