It seems like you're approaching this very seriously.  Professionalism will be key when promoting to a crowd like this.  If they see you mean business and want to get things DONE, they'll be impressed; if you look like a kid who was bored over the summer and decided it would be so kewl to make a deck, they'll ignore you or laugh at you.  In simpler terms, when you're talking the talk, you'd better be walking the walk as well...  So far, you are.

I like the deck and would probably get a deck on KS.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

First of all, thank you don. I've do my best to handle this project with the most professionalism possible.
Second of all, you all be happy to know that the compass deck re-design is almost complete! The new design will hopefully be more to your satisfaction.
See you all when the re-design's done!

The Compass redesign is finished, and our first prototype deck is in. (note: the proto deck does not have Magic finish or Aristocrat stock)
This is so exiting for us so tell us what you think in the comments of our new trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifp78vhGDlE&list=UUemmki2bhTIq7y8uJ-0cR5g&index=1&feature=plcp
More info soon,
Ken Kayne

Be careful about describing this deck as "completely custom".  When people think completely custom, they expect EVERYTHING to be custom - not just the backs, jokers, AoS and court cards, but also the pips and spot cards as well.  Good examples of this would be:

T11's Sentinels
E's Infinity
E's Artifice
All the CARC decks with "old-time" style faces
Lance Miller's Bicycle Gargoyles
CCCC's Bicycle Americana
CCCC's Bicycle Revision1
Both decks by BeDeceived
BBM's Bicycle Karnival Dead Eyes, Dose, Dose Redux
Bicycle Anne Stokes
Bicycle Alchemy 1977

Your deck appeared to have standard faces, albeit with custom colors.  The courts might have been custom, but certainly not the spot cards or the pips, unless the video didn't give me a good enough glimpse.

Pausing the "HD" youtube video showed stock art for the courts too.

custom colors fully custom

---- side rant ---
Why do people upload videos to youtube in 720/1080 when it was obviously shot low-res?  uploading it into the larger image size does not make a better video, in fact it makes it worse.

--- second side rant ---
camera stabilizers are cheap, everyone should own/make one.

The deck is completely custom, but we couldn't get the spot and face cards printed on this prototype deck (It says that in the description).
This video is to display the new back design, AoS, and Joker.
The finished deck will have Magic finish, Aristocrat stock, Custom Spot cards, and Custom Court cards.
So please give us something on the new back design, AoS, Joker, or Tuck Box
The revised court cards and pips will be up soon.

Sorry, I've been doing some major design work on a new deck,
But this is the revised back design.
I hope you guys like this over the old design.
Please tell me what you think.

WOW! This looks 100000x better. I really like this new back design. All it needs is thinner borders!

Have you changed the faces at all?

I agree with Evan. The back looks MUCH better. The only thing I ask is if it is at all possible to make the compass rose in the middle slightly more realistic with some shading. Other then that, I really like it!

I think it looks perfectly realistic as it is.  Remember that a compass rose was a simple drawing on a map meant to indicate the cardinal directions, or at least north.  It's a two-dimensional object in the real world so I don't see a reason to make it three-dimensional with the addition of shading.

Shading a deck back adds a layer of complexity if you're trying to retain a two-way design.  I've seen designs go from two-way to one-way with a simple addition of a shading effect from a single virtual light source.

I like they way the back has evolved. It looks designed now versus blocked together in MS paint like the original

The AOS is decent too.
However I really don't understand the point of the smoke effect on the Joker card. It doesn't seem to fit.

I love the box! It has a really nice pop to it that catches your eye.

For your kickstarter, I think one of your goals should be to reach gold and/or red metallic ink on the cards.

Hey everybody,
I'm Ken Kayne, owner of Kayne Magic and designer of the Compass deck. Before I start, Yes I am 15 and the website up for the deck was a prototype, I was testing coding and URL assigning, etc.
The deck in the YouTube trailer was a prototype also, it was printed on regular print shop card stock and was for display purposes only (And yes, they did handle like crap!) and in no way reflects the magic finish planned for the deck.
The export process for the pics and internet do take away from the proper colors on the deck design so you may not be getting the full effect. However, the deck is rather dark, feel free to make color suggestions. I welcome constructive criticism because there’s time for changes, so please be descriptive about what you like and don’t like about the deck.
This deck dose not at all represent or copy off of, the compass822 deck by AFPCC's. This deck is new deck inside and out and doesn’t copy off another deck. I designed this deck line by line and did not use any stock clip art to make it. The design program I used was Corel Draw 4X, which doesn’t give many 3d effect options, I did what I could.
The pics are rough and not yet formatted, I wanted to give you guys some spoilers.
Here are the specs of the deck and I hope I answered some questions, feel free to ask more.
Thanks,
Ken Kayne

Sorry that its taking so long guys, but kickstarter didn't even reply until the 5th!
They are taking issue with me being a minor and they just replied to our changes today.
Hopefully we can get this thing up and running by tomorrow or the next day.
Sorry for the delay.
This will happen.

Nice deck!

Not sure if it is the best moment to launch a deck at Kickstarter but I think it will be successfully funded...

Count on me! :)

If a person's deck isn't good enough to stand out in a busy field like we have now at Kickstarter, then it probably wasn't really good enough to start with, especially when you factor in that the KS deck projects market shows no signs of slowing down right now.

Having said that, I like the way this project evolved, at least up to the point we've seen thus far.  I'm interested in seeing what new developments have occurred since the design was last posted.
