Any one here do it? possibly have videos? I have some friends who are trying to find some areas around our town to do it and wondered if any of you guys did it.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

I saw a video clip of a pro teaching newbies somewhere out on the West Coast.  He was using a simple incline - I forget if it was sand or dirt - and going over the real basics; jumping, leaping, going up and down the incline, etc.  Better to practice on something SOFT-ish...

Beyond that, I got nuthin'.

Isn't Parkour the French Martial art of running away?

Parkour is French. Originally invented by the French Military, it was used for getting from point A - B efficiently. Parkour is derived from its given French name: Le'Parkour. It is not actually described as a sport but more like an artform, just like cardistry or magic.
There is a difference between Parkour and Freerunning. Parkour is, like I said before; getting from point A - B efficiently. Freerunning is the same but incorporates flips and crazy stunts into the actual parkour itself.

How does he know all this?

My best friend and J&T colleague Reuben, does Parkour/Freerunning, Gymnastics and Breakdancing as well as Cardistry and Magic.

Here is a video for an SNC entry he entered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuXgpzQsZXs&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Funny you should bring this up.  Just came across a video yesterday called, "Assassin's Creed Meets Parkour in Real Life."  Pretty bad ass if you ask me.

A couple of my friends are big into parkour, and I'd do it with them sometimes. We mostly went to our local middle schools/high schools because they have a good variety of obstacles (best to go after school's out though, when there aren't alot of people around. We've gotten in trouble a couple times ;) )
But when they were teaching me the basics, they used a small hill near one of the football fields as Don had said. It was pretty helpful to know, once we got to the bigger stuff... gotta crawl before you can walk, ya know?
