My guess is a blue version of the Verve deck.

Where: http://houseofplayingcards.com

"Verve Luxury Playing Cards: Brio Blue Edition
Available for Pre-Order 9/25/2012 - Only 5,000 printed.

The original Verve: Élan Rouge deck was a smash seller! The Verve deck has returned - now in an elegant blue!

5,000 decks huh? And just a simple color change from an existing deck. Hmm. If that sells out in a day like the red one, I'll be really disappointed if Aurum takes weeks or months to do the same. The verve dck is very nice, one of my favorites, but we already have a nice version of the deck. Making it blue is underwhelming.

Doesn't seem like too many companies  are pursuing originality in cards anymore...or maybe I'm just jealous...

(If it hasn't been made clear yet, I am not a big fan of simple color swaps and the way people act like a new color is the greatest thing since sliced bread)

Definitely not a deck I'm gonna rush on out and get right away.  If I even decide to get this deck.  I love the red ones and there is no need for another color.  I'm getting sick of all the color swaps as well.  All its for is to make a quick buck.  Wont be my buck.

You are just mad that since the Tendril deck successfully combined every color under the rainbow there is no color you can swap it to  ;)

There's a color Paul could try use actually, the white color he used for the extra gaff 10 of spades. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a White Tendril if there's ever gonna be one.  :D

Haha! It would be easy actually! Open up each card photoshop file, and move the hue/saturation slider halfway in either direction. 30 minutes, whole "new" deck. :)

Am I the only person who remembers that this deck was announced from the beginning as coming in more colors down the road?  You guys are acting like this is some huge surprise.

"No need for another color?"  I'm guessing you don't play poker much.  :))

No, it isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread - it's just a new color.  The fanboys who get their freak on over new colors need their heads checked, but it's not necessarily a bad thing, depending on how it's done.  For example, this deck was intended to have more colors from the get-go, while I sincerely doubt that Dan and Dave ever intended to make sever iterations of the Smoke and Mirrors design.  If I'm not mistaken, it was a matter of making sure the first deck was a success before plunging into making more colors - or at the least, that seems to make sense.  This isn't some big company making this, it's Erik Mana working with HOPC.

And there's no way on Earth it will take more than a handful of hours to sell out the Aurum deck!

Well I am being partially serious and partially silly. Erik Mana is cool and I admire him, and I really like the Verve deck. BUT the color swaps we see so often are my personal pet peeve.

If all card producers limited the color changes, we'd have a lot less decks and more unique art and design and I think we'd all like that. Every week the collectors groan about "oh man, another deck I have to get!" Even though far too often it's just a variant of what they have.

The shade of blue does not work for me.

The initial idea (from what I thought) of the Verve deck was the feel of leather (that is the tecturing they did with it)
Red worked for the deck design. Red leather is common. Blue leather you don't see as often, especially not such a brigt blue.
I could see a brown, or yellow, Maybe orange or white. But I don't think blue was the best color choice for the concept.

I know what you're talking about.  The Smoke and Mirrors series is a prime example, one I mentioned in my post.

Smart collectors don't feel an urgent, overpowering need to have every variation of every deck.  Never buy blindly whatever gets put out just because it's from series X or card company Y.  Use your money as your vote on whether the makers of that deck should be rewarded or ignored and forgotten.  I haven't bought any Dan and Dave since Magic Con '12 - I did get some Arrcos, but they're technically not a Dan and Dave deck.  I'll buy their books 'til the cows come home because of the awesome selection, but I no longer consider their cards of any interest to me.  And no, I don't go chasing after their "Holy Grail", Smoke and Mirror v1.  I have no desire, no interest at all to obtain those decks.  I thought the Game of Death deck was kind of cool, but then I remember the deck that preceded it - I really did NOT like the Chinatown deck at all.  Factor in the insane rarity of it and the hoops everyone was made to jump through to get one at retail, and there goes my interest in owning one.

am going to have to agree with John

You'll find blue leather like that in a high-end sports car with a blue interior motif.  I think he chose blue for the simple fact that blue is the second-most common card back color behind red.  Thinking from the perspective of capturing the market segment that actually uses the decks, this was a smart idea.  I'd guess there are some people out there who wouldn't even consider buying (or for that matter, collecting) cards with back colors other than blue or red.

I just feel blue doesn't go with the theme of the deck at all. IMO white or even beige would be so much better. I think I'll pass unless they make even more kick-ass box than the red ones. Either way I won't be using them, the back design is just.......

Just as cars come in different colours, decks can too. You're not being forced to buy them. I personally don't wish to buy these as they don't tickle my fancy, however the colour does look interesting.
If I were an eskimo, I would build my igloo next to a supermarket.

Why would they not, for consistency's sake, use the same box design for the different colors?  And yes, according to the HOPC website, there is a third and final color coming.  I know what it is but I'm not at liberty to reveal it.  I start telling industry secrets, no one will talk to me and tell me more of them!  :))

Where are you?  I bought three and shipping was a small handful of change LESS than $8.  It was a few more pennies less for only one.  I used USPS First Class, cheapest they offer - what were you selecting?

You could wait for the aftermarket - if a deck is rare and popular enough, however, you might end up paying more than the cost of shipping extra.  Or you could buy a few extra to sell to friends or online in order to defray the shipping cost - depending on where you are, it shouldn't cost that much extra to ship two or three decks instead of only one.  Three decks plus packing material and the envelope would run about eleven ounces.

I've ordered two decks, I only have one red and the handling is amazing! I agree that sometimes rehash colour changes can be frustrating (i'm looking at you Monarchs) when it seems companies are just cashing in But then i'd buy the artifice in any colour they produce, within reason.
I think we have to remember these are "Playing cards" primarily for "Playing" with.
It amuses me to hear people talk about the "Theme" of a deck, what it the theme of a standard bicycle deck? it's playing card games.
Paul mentions he would like to see less colour changes and more Art. Paul's Tendril deck is one of my favorite decks and I believe it to be a truely groundbreaking deck.
I'm pleased that  Playing cards have provided a new medium for some very talented artists to showcase their work but at the end of the day (23:59:59 god I hate that saying) they are still playing cards.
I hope that the custom deck trend continues for many years to come but I also hope companies continue to produce high quality playing cards, you know, to like, play cards with
