Heavy question, kind of, but do you have any ideas?

Anyone here planning on pushing the hobby on their kids? Selling off the collection and giving the money to next of kin? Donating it? Destroying it? Giving it away to other enthusiasts?

I'm curious because I have no idea where my collection will be in several years, decades, or after I am gone. One thing I am definitely doing though is informing loved ones of how much it costs so that if they need the money they don't sell a deck of Jerry's for two dollars at a garage sale. :P

Well, if my kids are into it then I will pass the decks down to them. if not I will probaly try to set something up so others in the community can have the decks.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

As I have mentioned before I am a collector of many things, some of which have some value, none of which currently have any extreme value. However this is a question that I have thougtht about in the past.
My wife and I do not currently have any children nor do either of us have an interest in spawning, so leaving them to the brood is out. My sister has kids but I would be damned before I let those things have any of my collections again. I let my nephew have whatever he wanted from my comic collection except for my Batman comics and the ones his father felt were not appropriate for him. He decided the only thing he would want is Batman and threw such a tantrum because he wasn't given the free things that he specifically wanted. (kind of like card collectors when they get free decks from companies)
My wife and I decided to arrange an auction after the last one of us dies (most likely her) and then donate the prceeds to charity. We haven't chosen a charity yet, but we have a few in mind.
We want to make sure we find a reputable auction company that will do research on our stuff so that it is sold for a decent price.(no $2 jerry's Nuggets, not that I own a Jerry's nuggets)
Hopefullly by then something in one of my collections will have some decent value and it will be worth the while of the auctioneer and the charity we give to.

The other option is paying property tax on our house for the 100 years and turning it into one of the most pointless museums in existance.

If it lasts that long, my collection will probably be inherited to my children. Then, they'll be able to make a few pretty pennies of the decks. :D

I have a niece and a nephew that I usually imagine willing such items to, but I'm not sure they'd be interested.  My stepsons are a possibility, but I'm not sure they'd want them, either.  I've given my younger stepson a good handful of decks but I never see him taking a pack out to do anything with.

Unless my wife wanted to keep them as a memory of me, I'd probably have them either donated to a card museum or university collection, or, assuming there was no interest among them, I'd auction them on eBay or let my wife do so after I'm gone.

Y'see, gang, when all is said and done, the one with the most toys DOESN'T win...

Second of all, you can edit your profile to include your signature in all your posts instead of copying and pasting them into the body text like you did above.

Third, what if your collection is so large, it would take up more space than you in your own coffin, requiring a larger (and more expensive) coffin and burial plot/mausoleum space?  Mine's getting close to that point already...

I know that option, but he seemed to want to take it with him.

I'm not married (never say never though), Nor do i have any children (That I know of!) So if any future wife, children or long lost child I have wants them they can have them. That's if I haven't already sold them to fund another hobby or collection.
If they don't want them well, My father died of throat cancer, My mother has a serious heart condition and I myself am Narcoleptic!!! so the collection can be split 3 ways and donated to charity shops that support these conditions. though i don't own any Jerrys I like the thought of someone going into a charity shop and picking up a red Artifice or gold arcane for a buck!

So which one of you will troll the rest of us, and burn your most expensive decks with a giant grin on your face, on camera? :P

Actually, Dan & Dave should do that with their Jerry's. Just to see the reaction.

The video was hilarious. The average intelligence of a YouTuber is pretty low though, unfortunately. They clearly didn't get the joke. I don't expect much else from the same people who believe deck reviewers that say "THIS FINISH FEELS BETTER THAN AIR-CUSHION BECAUSE IT'S 909 PREMIUM"

Wow I have never thought about this before
I don't know if ill still be collecting then but me and my fiancé plan on having 2 to 4 children depending how we manage taking care of the first ones haha
But anyway I'm only 20 I would like my future son/sons daughter/daughters to discover cards themselves and have them start to collect cards on there own hopefully then reveal my amazing collection haha but I doubt it will play out that way
I think I could end up selling decks in case I need some money before I die as I have seen many people with great collections needing to sell for money
But if I still do have them when I die ill let my fiancé do what she wants with them and will make sure value is known haha I wonder if I will still have my jerrys deck then hmm

When I decide to stop collecting (hopefully before I have kids) I will put all of it in a chest and hide it somewhere remote create a treasure map for it and when I die I'll give my kid/s the map and yeah they'll decide whether to find it or not

I'd either sell them off, or open everything and enjoy the using and looking at the decks
If I were an eskimo, I would build my igloo next to a supermarket.

You would have neither option if you were dead - especially if you died suddenly for some reason.
