It's been a while, and I've been a bit busy, but am I missing something here?  Please let me know if I'm the only one who sees this as a completely ridiculous listing.... This was listed by Dealing Dueces as a Rare & Vintage Cupid Back Deck of Cards with Wooden Box and is already up to $75?  It looks to me like the reprint from a few years ago by 52andJokers (I think) that you can still pickup for around $5.00... They re-wrapped it in cellophane and then put it in a wooden box and there are eight bids up to $75... Again, please let me know if I'm missing something, but it looks like a completely fraudulent listing... There was no such vintage deck of Cupid Backs ever printed in Gold... In fact the deck looks rather modern and so is everyone excited to pay $70+ for a wooden box???

Edit: Here's the listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/271079888796

Again, pardon me if I am incorrect, but aren't these the cards here at less than $4 per deck? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-DECKS-Bicycle-Cupid-Back-gold-playing-cards-/300464251523?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f510a283

Hi jmrock!, nice to see you again

I don't think so. I saw this set of cards much before than USPCC moved to Erlanger and the $4 decks are a new edition (Aceking?) made in the Kentucky factory....

I am not sure about the exact origin of this deck but it seems like a kind of test deck.

Best

I know there was an earlier, "modern" printing than the most recent issue of Cupid Backs.  I think it was early '90s.  It's possible that this was a limited-edition version from one of the printings of this deck.

Without a deck box to at least estimate the age, there's no way of knowing without knowing about all the release versions of this deck.  I doubt even USPC has those records!  They actually LOSE designs of cards from the past, and suddenly there's no record of it ever being made there.  Remember the Dragon Back design they butchered with "colorization"?  They thought it was a lost Bicycle back, never printed - the truth was that it was an old Tally Ho back and it WAS made before.  Somewhere on these forums we have a photo of a card back.

And while DD seems like a very nice guy, his decks are nearly always expensive compared to the market.

And wouldn't you know it, it's Dealing Deuces up to no good again. That looks like a regular Cupid Back from aceking a couple years back. Never heard of them being made before that.

another example of an overpriced item listing from dealing deuces http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-D-D-Ace-Fulton-Casino-Playing-Cards-12-Decks-Gold-Foil-Wrapped-Promo-Deck-/271084912657?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1deb8011

This caused an uproar in the united cardists forum.

That back's been done MANY times.  But...

...I don't think any of the previous printings had gold line work instead of white.

It's appeared in the Vintage Collection, there was a standalone printing in the early '90s, and it was a regular in the Bicycle line up a good number of years ago.  But this one - well, whoever bought that likely got duped, I'm sorry to say.  It probably is the AceKing version - and without a paper tuck box, no less!  It's like he simply wrapped it up in a resealable deck bag or something.

This isn't the Aceking version. This was done a while ago and I bought them when I first started collecting cards. That is how they were issued in cellophane and a wooden box.

Thanks!

I appreciate the first-hand info, thanks.  It's good to have confirmation, one way or the other, rather than guesswork.
