Got an email about a new deck, the Black Carpathia. Apparently only 144 of these exist and apparently they are as thin as the Absolute Vodka. They go on sale this Friday. Here is the info.

"Black carpatbia deck will release,144 decks released(have individually numbered and seal ).
The printing of Black Carpathia Deck adopts two layers of paper, which is quite similar to Absolute Vodka Deck.
11/9/2012 8P.M. EST. Buy 12 Decks,will get free Uncut Sheet (only 8 ).
You can buy in http://www.carpathiadeck.com/category.php?id=1 "

I have on of these and the handling is pretty terrible. Also, there is a huge typo throughout the deck. It says "Carpatbia" instead of "Carpathia" throughout the entire deck... even on the box! But if you have the white version, you may want this to go along with it.

Seeing as how it will sell for $130, I think not!

I got a laugh out of this ad text:

Last time I looked, ALL modern, good-quality playing cards use two layers of paper!  They're squished together with a layer of graphite-infused glue to make the paper opaque.

I'll pass.

I see that now.  But you'd think at $12 a deck they'd get the name spelled right...

Since the black ones aren't released yet, it would see he's referring to the white ones, unless he won a contest or something to get them...

Twis, you do realize that USPC also uses two-layer cardstock?  The same as almost every major card manufacturer in the world?  He might as well have advertised that the deck comes in a paperboard tuck box, just like the Absolut deck...

I stated it previously - did you not read it?  Look at my first post in this topic.  And while you're at it, consider reading through the "Fact or Fiction" topic at the top of the PCP board.

I did i just thought there is a extra middle layer. now i got it, the 3 layer misconception comes from the fact that i make gaffs that peels off layers, when you peel off front and back there's always a extra layer.

That "third layer" is the glue with fragments of paper from the top and bottom layers attached to it.  It's not really a separate layer, it's just what holds the two layers together.  If you glued together two small pieces of corrugated cardboard with a thick coating of strong adhesive, let them bond, then pulled them apart, you'd probably end up with what looked like three layers - a top layer whose bottom was all torn up, a bottom layer whose top was all torn up, and a "middle layer" consisting of all those torn-off bits from the other two layers and the adhesive that's holding it together.
