  • Ugh, I wish I had money for THAT deck!
I may pick up a couple, but I preferred the original red LTD. . . will it still be called LTD is if will not be a limited deck???

I always assumed LTD was a reflection of the brand... Am I incorrect?

Havent seen a link posted yet, so here ya go, decks can be purchased HERE: http://www.ellusionist.com/ltd-blue-playing-cards-deck.html

Honestly I really like this deck. I know alot of people aren't a fan of recolorings, but I'm not really interested in basically blowing $50-60 to open a red deck when I can get a blue that I can acutally play with for $6. I like blue better anyways.

EDIT: and I LOVE the silver pips. Sooo purdy

They're available to Black Club members only, they'll go up for public release at 1pm PST. For 72 Hours from Public Release purchases of 12 or more decks will receive an original Red LTD as well. (Buy 1 Brick of unLTD's get a Free LTD, Buy 2 Bricks get 2 LTD's etc).

These are exactly the same as the original LTDs, except for the coloration change. The Prototype we had up on Ebay was a one-of-a-kind with a different back design. It's the only sealed deck in existence (assuming it's still sealed) so unless the owner chooses to open the deck, the prototype back design will go undiscovered.

Angel_magic, I know you're enthusiastic about getting this deck, but there's no point in posting a link to a Black Club exclusive pre-order until it's available to everyone.  You can't order it before the general release unless you're logged in with an account that has a Black Club membership, and when the exclusive's done, everyone will find it on the website.

Xntrix, as usual, thanks for the info.  Always appreciated.

(Buy 1 Brick of unLTD's get a Free LTD, Buy 2 Bricks get 2 LTD's etc).

Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on that. I had 24 in the cart last night and only 1 Red LTD was added (so I dropped it down to 12).
Just tried again (8:45am EST) and only 1 was added with 24.

As for shipping - I was already paying $15.30 for USPS priority (more than the medium flat rate box required). With 24+1 in the box, priority goes up to $25.48.
Haven't you guys embedded the flat-rates into your system yet? That's an insane price for shipping!

Since Jake doesn't check in here a lot, you're probably better off pursuing that line of questioning with Ellusionist rather than here.  Here, you'd just be wasting your breath.  There, they can actually help you.

We're unable to use Flat-Rate due to USPS restrictions on commercial shipping. I don't know the exact details - but I know the subject has been brought up before, and it was denied by USPS. We used to use media-mail as well to keep prices down - but USPS decided we couldn't do that anymore because cards don't count as Books/Documents/DVDs.

All our shipping is Weight + Dimension based, and although our international rates will soon (early March) be dropping  significantly thanks to brokered deals, domestic is still whatever USPS charge us, which ain't exactly pretty, even with an account discount.

Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on that. I had 24 in the cart last night and only 1 Red LTD was added (so I dropped it down to 12).

I'd say either clear your cache, or check your cart again. The LTD is automatically added as a new line for each 12, up to a maximum of 3 per order (however if you want more than 47 decks, just contact us and we'll sort the right number of LTDs for you).

nice! thats a smoking deal if you wanted to buy them. I mean at the current ebay rate for the original LTD deck thats almost like $30-50 back (if you dont already have the LTD and were planning on adding one to your collection) :D

Well, not really "boom". All I said was that of last night and 8:45am it was not working correctly. Having checked just now it is working properly (without clearing my cache - I had left them in my cart). Of course, since my brick was shipped this afternoon, it's a moot point for me (since I'm not paying for shipping again) - I was just pointing out what was (but now is not) an error in the cart.

In your shoes, I would have placed the order for the two bricks and emailed them after the fact to get it squared away.  From what I know of E, it wouldn't have been a problem at all.  Oh well.

I "accidentally" ( ;) ) just ordered a brick of these. But don't tell the missus, she thought I was buying her something blue and smooth to the touch for valentines day.

She'll be extra surprised when she opens her brand new shower curtain!!

Just give me a heads-up as to when you're giving it to her - I'd like enough advance warning to put in my earplugs, 'cause I think I'll be able to hear her "surprise" from my side of the pond...  :))

Well i recieved my decks today... And i ended up having a surprise...

All the new blue ltds have a seal that says ltd (duh :p) and inside it seems that every deck has 1 extra Queen of hearts from a red ltd deck.

Im not 100% sure yet since i havent opened any other ltd but maybe somebody can confirm this?

Because i was thinking that since ellusionist said that no more red ltds were going to be made, then the only explanation for the red extra red queens is that they reprinted it.

The other plausible option would be to open the same amount of red ltds just to put 1 red queen in each blue ltd....which sounds stupid....

they just decide to include the red ltd QOH as a gaff in blue ltd, the same things as seasons platinum edition, its that simple.

Sure, but there's a huge difference.  Red LTD was strictly a single-print-run, never-to-be-redone limited edition, while blue LTD is a "buy all you want, we'll make more" unlimited edition...  I will likely be able to buy this next month or next year without hassle.

Wait...  You're probably referring to the red LTD giveaway for buying a brick, aren't you...?  :))

HOPC did the same thing with the NOCs and (unintentionally) both versions of Altruism.  Making the card with a different back is more unique, but it allows for things like Chicago Opener and similar tricks requiring a duplicate card from a different-colored deck.

In deed I am sir. Indeed I am ;) on a similar note, If i understand correctly the red ltd. decks were never actually for sale but for special give away's only. Can anyone elaborate on this for me or direct me to a thread with that information. Thanks guys. :)

Just like the Bicycle Black Ghost 1st Edition and the Gold Arcane, the LTD deck was made in a print run of 5K and never offered outright for purchase, just as a promotional item or contest prize.  Unlike those other two decks, however, the LTD was part of the regular "buy X amount, get this deck" prize tiers only during the 2010 holiday season - there's been a few limited time offers since then, but no indefinite listing on the prize chart like the other two decks.  The only rare premium decks that E made available for sale were the Red Artifice and the Sultan Republic Treasury Edition.

The Artifice was made in a lot of 5,000 of which 3,000 were made available for purchase, limit one brick per person (many people created multiple accounts to circumvent this) - it dragged their servers down to a crawl for several hours, and a large percentage of customers never got a chance.  The remaining 2,000 were made available in the same manner as the Gold Arcane and BG1E, as tiers for purchasing a certain amount of merchandise, as giveaways as part of a promotional sale or as a contest prize.

The Treasury deck was unique - only 2,500 were "made available" (implying that more may have been printed without actually saying as much), and they were originally only being sold to people who successfully figured out the clues built into the original Sultan Republic deck to find the link to buy this version.  However, many people either stumbled on the link by trial and error (E uses fairly consistent URLs for their products) or they discovered it when someone else leaked it.  After a short while, E made these available for general sale with limits on how many could be bought - I think the limit started at three decks and went down to two, again with some people circumventing the limit by creating multiple accounts.  At this point, they're simply unavailable.  Also, you should know that because they decided to redesign the regular Sultan Republic deck, those are no longer being printed beyond the initial print run, making them de facto rare in the same way as the blue Artifice v1 deck is before the v2 model was released.

Don, as always you are a plethora of knowledge. Thanks for the Info!  :)
