This one has been sort of flying under our radar here. I first got word a couple of days ago at UC about this deck. I am curious to see what lies inside and probably use them. The porper clips also look very nice. Anyone from Singapore wants to grab this and work out a trade? :D

Here's the write-up on the site for those of you who are lazy to click the link:

"These clips are the second release to come from the collaboration of David Blaine and Lawrence Sullivan. Their style and functionality has been designed with uncompromising standards for David's and a select few magicians personal use- these highly sought after clips are now available for serious magicians only.  Limited to only 22 clips, which come with 37 never-before-released Gaff White Lion Red and Blue cards.

The process begins in the USA with a laser-etched Joe Porper card clip, adorned with extremely high quality Brown and Black leather.  Skilled artisans treat the exposed rough metal edges in a labor intensive process typically reserved for high-end wallets and handbags. This rubber-like finishing adds an extra touch of class for individuals who demand unmatched quality and style.

Available in black leather and dark brown leather.  Black leather clip also comes with a leather wallet that holds up to 20 playing cards."

I was wondering when someone else would notice - I was about to post it.  I picked up a brown clip.

This about it - only 22 clips, only 22 decks...  Now THAT'S a short run.  I'm sure there's more that will eventually see the light of day, but when, how many and at what cost?

I believe I can do that...  :))  I expect them possibly by the weekend, but I don't know when I'll get to my PO Box next - I usually hit it up once or twice a week.

Thanks Don :).

Also I suspect there will be some duplicate cards in that deck as the description mentioned that there are '37 never-before-released Gaff White Lion Red and Blue cards' and there should be at least 56 cards in the deck. Or maybe 19 of them are double backers and blank-faced cards that have already been seen. Well, all will be revealed in due time.

Do it - FAST.  The clips are exceptionally rare, as are the gaff decks.

I just bought the black one with the wallet.  ;D

I hope the gaffs are worth it.

I mean the clip looks great and the wallet was just a cool bonus (for me), but the gaffs are the real deal here.

Also, does anybody know if the gaffs are "series B stock and finish" i mean i know that nobody knows right now (since nobody has the deck) but maybe we can "speculate"

Also im new in the forum, after 6 months of lurking, i finally decided that i should register  :P

First, welcome aboard!

Second, your avatar is kinda trippy...

Third, David Blaine has his gaffs made by USPC, to the best of my knowledge.  They're exactly the same quality as his decks.  I have some of his red and blue Split Spades Lions gaffs.

There are some cool gaffs in the deck, plus the correct instruction for reading the marking on WL series B. if the card clip is the same quality as his last release(I am sure it is) then this is a very good deal

First of all, Twiscold, the deck doesn't come with instructions on reading the deck markings.  Where did you get that information from?

I say that with authority because I now have my clip and my gaff deck!  It's 37 cards in a standard-sized box - lotsa extra room.

I guess Blaine really doesn't  want everyone to know the decks are marked. My friend Xavier Spades got those about 2 month ago from Blaine and he show me the deck. The instruction was the only part that I really cared about, so I remembered.

The marking system's common knowledge within the community.  I know of at least one website that details both the Series A and Series B markings.  There are links to it in the topic for those decks.

I'm sure that Xavior's deck was a special preview sent to him by David, which could explain why his came with such instructions.  Sometimes the preview version of a product doesn't match exactly with the final release version.

Those are some pretty nice gaffs. I also heard another 'solution' to the marking system that allows you to correctly identify the values of the cards. (Remember how we had some overlapping values in labyrinth's solution? This one eliminates them.) But I am still trying to verify them.

I think one of these days soon I'll just have to bring my magnifying glass and a couple of WL decks to work...  If there's a way in the marks to more accurately reveal the cards, it's got to be visible, regardless of how subtle it is, or it's not much of a marking system, is it?

The markings are "optical illusions" Diagonal lines that are "wider" i got the explanation from DBs instagram, somebody there got a paper sheet explaining the full marking system (explained by david himself),

The illusion its a stereogram, an illusion that needs a "knack" to be able to see it.

Hope that helps a little bit more.

Also the gaffs seem to be great, its a shame we only get 37 cards and not the full 52 gaffs (i woulndt care if the 15 other cards were double backers and blank cards).

Maybe they are all different? when i get mine i will compare them to your list Don.

Also can you post a picture of the  "smeared" ones??

Thanks.

They look like a playing card's index, value above suit, and are printed in the "card" the queen is holding which in the standard deck has four hearts printed on it.

Also the gaffs seem to be great, its a shame we only get 37 cards and not the full 52 gaffs (i woulndt care if the 15 other cards were double backers and blank cards).

I'm sure that David had these done in a short run as a special favor and that the remaining cards were gaffs that he decided to keep to himself.  He probably had USPC print and package them without seals or cellophane, had his staff extract the extra ones he wanted to himself and gave the rest in this set.

BTW it's probably 19 extra cards - a USPC uncut sheet holds 56 cards, not 52.  And while it's possible that the sets are different, it's unlikely - David has done similar gaff-card releases in the past and the gaffs were always the same throughout.  Though I have to admit that I don't think he's ever done a gaff release as large as this before.  Plus there's always the chance for human error, but since there's only twenty-two decks, the chances of human error changing the lineup are slim.  I wouldn't be surprised if David himself did the sorting.

So the box contains 37 cards, right?
Then does the thickness of the gaff decks box thinner than standard box?

The box is standard size for a full 56-card deck - there's a big empty space in it when it's filled with cards.

Been looking at my deck for around 10 minutes now and that picture has just left me with more questions than answers! Can you easily tell the values, hecrob? Could you kindly further explain the picture to a fool such as me??? :P :)
