I have heard of this being done. Can anyone here do it? I can not find a video of it on youtube.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

It can most definitely be done, I can do it.

Andrei can also do it. In this video you can see various springs from 2:50 - 3:04 // http://youtu.be/2tdjh-7rJjw

do you have video? I did not see what I was looking for in that one. I mean literally you shoot them from one they go through the air like a rainbow and land in the other.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Ekaterina Dobrokhotova can do it, too.

If you're talking about springing them from one flat hand on extended arm to the other held out similarly, forming an arch like a rainbow, you need an Electric Deck for that, a gimmick deck held together with strings/wires/whatever.

I don't have video personally but I'd do it like Ekaterina and Andrei. I also do those but also by doing a dribble, kind of a variation of the anaconda.

I know what you are talking about, but I've never seen it done. If it was to be done it'd be pretty darn difficult. I just tried and my silver monarchs ended up everywhere...

What flourishes do you know?

EDIT:

Well that wouldn't be called Cardistry, wouldn't it? :))

I personally do basic cardistry. I focus on magic and try to keep it simple because I try to relate with my spectators. I congrats those people who do the fancy stuff but its not for me.

My personal favorite is when someone dribbles an Electric Deck but neglects to catch it on the bottom...  It just dangles like a broken Slinky...

Actually, that would be a wild-looking stunt if you dribbled it down, then rapidly swept it back with the same hand!  It would appear like you were scooping them up faster than they were falling.  But if you didn't give the string of cards a gentle jerk before going, you'd need to be insanely fast...

Kids will love it.  Adults will groan - though maybe not these days, since what's old is new again and it's been a while since this has been remotely in vogue.  Good deck switching skills will help - unless you want to intentionally blow the gag for comic effect.

It may be possible to do it manually, In the proper cardistry fashion. I know an anaconda can be done one handed, where the performer does the anaconda as usual and then just letting it fall and catching it one handed. If that can be done then I'm sure the method you are think of can be. I shall try, if I get somewhere I will share. If it is worth it I may develop it.

Joker and the Thief, I believe the one-handed anaconda is done with the bottom hand. I may be wrong, but it sounded like you were saying the top hand dribbles and catches. When I saw it, the bottom hand sort of tosses the cards up and they fall back into the hand. It's been awhile sinceI've seen the video though.

No, the cards are dribbled up and then let go at the maximum height and then the cards free fall into the opposite hand. It looks like the way you described in is video (http://youtu.be/FM4mAogckeo) but its not.

Cool. From what it looks like and what I've heard, it seems like it's very possible so long as you do it on a small scale.

Andrei can also do it. In this video you can see various springs from 2:50 - 3:04 // http://youtu.be/2tdjh-7rJjw
What I love about that video is that Andrei performs every style of flourish in under 5 minutes. Simply amazing. I would kill for dexterity like his.
It just dangles like a broken Slinky...
I hate those - when you try to pull a tangled slinky apart, the metal just expands.
Cool. From what it looks like and what I've heard, it seems like it's very possible so long as you do it on a small scale.
To do it on a large scale, you would need to defy the law of physics.

How is that anti-Anaconda move even possible?
No, the cards are dribbled up and then let go at the maximum height and then the cards free fall into the opposite hand.
So, isn't that an Anaconda, because, if the cards are dribbled up and fall in the other hand, that's how an Anaconda is performed.

Yeah that video really does showcase what Andrei style is about he has some amazing skill.

Yes but it's, as you put it, an 'anti-anaconda'. I'm fairly certain that one hand dribbles up the cards but it is then taken away at the maximum and the cards are allowed to free fall without any guidance and its being caught in one hand.

Are you speaking of the Overhead Spring? If so,Jerry Cestowski made this flourish popular and seems to be also the creator of this flourish. Here is an exerpt from The Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes I own on this move.

"On the front of one of the paperback editions of Paul LePaul's fascinating The Card Magic of LePaul is a drawing (by Ed
Mishell) of a magician in a bow tie and tails springing the deckin an arc over his head, where the cards actually LOOP
around and eventually end up in his other hand.  Now if any flourish is impossible it's that. However...
                                 The Overhead Spring is as spectacular a flourish as is possible with playing cards.  I believe it is original with me;
I have certainly never seen anyone else do or describe it.  The cards are sprung in a grand, sweeping arc, over the head.
Owing to the unique angle at which the cards are presented, most of the area of the faces of all the cards are visible
                          throughout the flourish."

Here, The Overhead Spring being performed by Jerry Cestowski can be seen in 1:14 of this video which is The third installment of his Companion DVD's that go with the Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes.
