Are those bullet holes with smoke coming out of them?
at first I thought they were jelly fish ^_^

What is your inspiration for your deck design? I always love knowing about the reson behind a design I think it helps the designer and the other people understand it more and appreciate it more.

They are supposed to be bullet holes with smoke, haha. Well Black Hand was a type of racket set-up by the mafia. So my inspiration is gambling rackets and organized crime.

I am up for the challenge, and want people to be as harsh as needed. I want to hopefully one day have an awesome design. Here is a mock-up I did for a Tuck Box, for the new design I have been brainstorming.

Is it just me, or are the two images you posted identical?  I'm not seeing a difference.

OK, a "gangster" theme - that's something to work with.  There's a number of interesting ways you can go with this design.

From a designers point of view, the concept is still very basic.
However, if you decide to continue on this route it may have some great outcomes.

Here are some tips that can make the back look a lot more interesting.

Colours:
The red and black looks fine, gives it a professional image. The white on the other hand pulls away from the red and black. Maybe something more subtle?

Font:
Your font. its awful. if you want minimal design why use serif fonts (like times new roman)?
Try using clean san-serif fonts. this is very important because serif fonts are just plain ugly if you do not use it correctly.

Size:
The spacing between the words are a bit too much. Try pulling them together closer. you will see a big difference in the design.

Design:
A smart tip, rotate the words to a 45 degrees angle. If you want to create a two way back design which a lot of magicians like, you can try pairing up the words. have to words, in your case "spades" one at 45 degrees angle and the other flipped over. pair them up like that to create a pattern.

Try this and you will see a great different in the outcome. it will be more professional and minimal (no serif font). much cleaner (use either all caps or non caps) -> Spades - NO, spade- YES, SPADE-YES.

I agree, not on jellyfish but that its hard to read as a bullet hole. ;P First I would use a black circle instead of white/grey to give it depth. Second I would save the bullets and think about using them for a gaft card or even pips (check out circle city's Americana deck, they have a gaft with bullet holes)   Maybe you could create the clubs with this?
