Would anyone be interested in a board where, each day, we voted on two random decks? Winners each week get a point! It would culminate in an epic deck of the year battle in December among the top 10 or something.

The format of the board would be something like this:

Sticky: Leaderboards
Sticky: Encarded's Aurum vs. Encarded's Tendril (1/1/2013)
---
All non-sticky posts will be discussions for battles, nominations, battle ideas, etc.

We could do something like Deck of the Month too, with the winner being memorialized for all time in our leaderboards, and then getting a sweet signature for their profile if the creator/representative is on this forum.

Thoughts?

Sounds cool. I would like to vote in that.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

I like the idea, particularly because in your example I'm guaranteed a win. :D

I think it could lead to some good discussion and valuable thinking about what makes a good deck. That kind of constructive thinking would be fun and good for everyone. I think having a rule of "no bashing like an idiot" would be good. If you want to discuss, bring up valid points, not just "that one sucks"

I don't like rules. We haven't had a "no bashing" rule here or in Design & Dev and very rarely do people flame.

I guess on the other hand, this is much more instigating than anything else.

I'm considering a rule requiring a post to go along with a vote, with a brief explanation as to why you picked what you pick.

And no worries Paul, I've already rigged the first battle to be Aurum vs. Galasexy by AlieN Ink  :karrit: :karrit:

That sounds pretty cool, I think we should at least try it and see how it goes.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

I think it's a good idea and something I'd definitely take part in. I'd probably end up posting an explanation anyway so I don't mind that being a rule either.

I like the idea and the way of reducing empty votes. Count me in ;D

Yay - another dry wit!  :))

I think it's a great idea but I don't think the individual daily "battle boards" would need stickiness, just the leaderboard.  It'll be a hot topic for the day at least, so it'll be on the list of unread posts.  When the day is done and the debate/commentary dies, the topic goes the way of the driftwood of cold topics while the new day's topic jumps into the unread list.  Dating it is important as well - with day of the week for added convenience!

I'd be happy to kick the dailies off for you if you like, Alex, or at the least I can do them when you're otherwise occupied.  You give me a list for 7 or 10 days or something and I'll post them day by day.  I'm usually awake at the start of the calendar day on the East Coast anyway.

Will this be open to only 2013 releases, or would you make (either alternately or in conjunction with the year's board) an "all-time" leader board covering ALL releases?

I'm reminded of that game Peter and his friends on "Family Guy" play now and then, where you're given two terrible alternatives and have to choose one of them...  It would be something silly like "sleeping with (insert female-popular male celebrity here) or French-kiss a street hooker with herpes"...

"OK, guys, which deck do you vote for: Bicycle Trace Green or Bicycle Red, White and Blue Series 6?"  :))

Gonna go with Red, White and Blue.
Reason?
1) I'll bet they'll look awesome in fans.
2) I love the subtle additions to the courts and the fact that the jokers are the political parties and congress.  ;D
3) I'm not too fond of the Trace Green's jokers. Not too mention I didn't see any court card customization.
4) 'MURICA

BZZT!  I'm so sorry, but we have some excellent consolation prizes for you.  Gigi, tell him what he's won!

Alex's and mine were possible examples.  Alex's was a legit possibility, while mine was an extreme worst-case scenario.  Both of those decks I mentioned were designed and sold pretty much exclusively by "Merz67", who probably cranks out more decks (mostly crappy clip-art decks) than any other Custom Department customer at USPC.  He's got a retail shop that's not too bad, though some have complained that his shipments aren't properly protected.  The shop's kinda goofy - in addition to many different decks, he carries all kinds of white-trash, hillbilly, "as seen on TV" crap that's a hoot to laugh at.  He's at http://merz67.com if you're interested.

Huh. Never heard of him.
The red white and blue deck looked pretty OK from what I saw on Amazon, though. I still want to see one of those decks fanned.
