Hey, quick question.
If you were to compare the handling of a (relatively new) Jerry's deck with that of the Ace Fulton's Casino decks (Ivory and/or Cambric), what would your thoughts be?

I believe that is a deck of Friar's.

How would you compare the Jerry's with the Friar's?

Meh, no. I would say that the Cambridge ace fultons are more like golden nuggets. They have a thick tacky finish and tend to clump fast outta the box. It may be because I am in Georgia though and the humidity here is 90%, 90% of the time. The ivory I haven't used enough to compare. Mine are still as slick as when I opened them.

I would recommend the RED pr1me playing cards, its scary how much they feel like Jerry's.

Yep they are Japanese Friars. I love them. They are like cousins to Jerry's. The stock and texture are about the same but the finish handles different. Once broken in the friars are a dream. I think they are underrated(or a well kept secret).

Look close and you'll also spot a deck of dunes, which I would say are between Jerry's and golden nuggets. They predate both though being from 1964.

If y'all want some photos of dunes and friars I can post them.

Also, at this time neither the friars or dunes are for sale. Sorry!

I don't own any, but I own several Vegas Club decks, and although initially they are a clumpy mess, when you really break them in you get perfect fans and perfect handling with insane durability.

I don't think a single modern deck has even come close to paralleling how good vintage cards handle.

I would put the friars in this category. No doubt. They started out a little clumpy but given a day or two of use they began to fan better and break apart from each other. This deck will outlast me.

I tried to capture the texture for y'all.

The backs of friars are like the smooth front of Jerry's and the front of friars are almost ivory. Hope that makes sense.

"Cambridge"?  Auto-spell strikes again!  Teach it "Cambric"...  :))

Regarding the red Pr1me deck, which print run?  The original print run was made in Italy (or so I was led to believe) while they used a Chinese printer for the second.

While there are a lot of shit decks that come out of China, the printers there are also capable of creating some excellent, excellent quality decks.  They usually save their best decks for domestic use!

Now I'm gonna have to check my Friar's out a little more closely.  I have two orange from a trade with Lalita and Lee Asher gave me a blue when I met him last year.

BTW, nice photo angle...  Upside-down?  :))

Yeaaahh, I am done with autocorrect! Sorry!

I not sure which batch on the red pr1mes but would guess the 1st. My decks all say Italy on the bottom and they came from CARC. Are there any differences on the box or something else to distinguish the two Don?

.... I also have several blue decks of the pr1me cards and there are two shades. The purplish box has the stiff cards while the lighter blue box has the soft card stock (anyone else notice this?)

I will be interested to hear your take on the Friars Don. You're a friggen encyclopedia on cards!

I have no idea why they posted upside down. Actually wanted to ask. They where taken right side up. If you click on the pics the display right side up....any ideas?

I'm a total Magoo if you haven't figured yet :-)

2nd-edition Pr1me decks have sharper, clearer printing on them with more detail than the 1st edition.  Regarding the purple and blue box decks being different, again, it's probably got everything to do with being from different print runs.  Do the Aces, Jokers and card backs have the same level of detail?  You can see wavy "hair lines" in the hair of the back characters on a 2E deck, while the 1E is just a solid field of white.

I have no idea why your pictures flipped.  Perhaps it has something to do with your image management software.

The deck I have on me has wavy lines in the male and females hair. However, they are barely noticeable(I have really good eye sight). I would think that these are indeed the 1st. I will look into the 2nd edition and make a review for them.

Anyway, point is, I think they are some damn good cards because they are similar to vintage decks.

Damn you red delicious pad and your red tape!

I think it was either Labyrinth or 52cartes that published side-by-side comparison photos - the 2nd version clearly had more details.  See if you can find them - then you'll know.
