I was thinking about this recently, and was wondering what everyone thinks the greatest song in the history of music is. I personally think it's Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. From the poetic storytelling nature of the lyrics to the ease and passion of the guitar solo to the dramatic development of the song itself, it gets my vote. I'd say it's the best rock song of all time, but greatest song of all time might be a tough vote for some other people.
“You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”

― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Stairway to Heaven is a great song but not the greatest in my mind. Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' would have to be up there in the top 5. Just like 'Stairway to Heaven' it is very poetic, very experimental in the features they use in the music. All mixed in is Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest singers ever. He took one for both teams and his songs were anthems for victory! like 'We are The Champions'. Also the pitch difference he uses. Going very high down low and having soft quiet parts and then screaming it out makes a great hit on their songs.

this is really the song that not only embodies Miles Davis, but really just embodies all of what jazz is to me. Not the most technically complex by any means, and I can certainly appreciate technical ability when it comes to both jazz and other genres, but the feel of this song is really something I can't describe. I guess my best attempt would be "a progression of emotions" as described by some of the best musicians of any generation.

listen and learn, children.
