Does anyone have any advice on how to keep the cards together when doing the deck flip because either most of them  fly out when I catch them or most of the cards fly out mid flip
Thanks for the help

I am by no means an expert at it, but do have a bit of success. I would say that  have better luck with it when I do the flick motion gently, without much force since it doesn't tak much to get the deck all the way around. If I push hard, the deck can tend to fly all over. Obviously an older pack of cards will probably help since they are not as slick as a brand new deck and should hold during the spin nicer. I also think that exactly where you hold the deck on the sides plays a key role on how the cards react in the air. Sometimes, my finger holding the deck is a little too much over the top card and can pull that away as the deck starts the revolution. I would say play around with exactly where to place your fingers and how much pressure you initiate the flip with.

I would say that you should use the fingernail of your index finger to do the flick. Lesser friction implies lower chance to get the bottom cards sliding. Also, your grip on the sides of the deck is important with regard to the release, as too deep of a grip will cause the top cards to split (as Curt said). Try and experiment with it.  Also, use your wrist to add some momentum to the packet (just a little bit though). Using your wrist can also help make the flourish a lot more fluid and hopefully keep the packet unifor.

Let us know how it goes. Good Luck :))

MAJOR brownie points if you get it.

Upon the flick, spread the fingers of your hand out, almost like you want it to look the deck is popping from your hand. One of the problems I had with this was that the cards would hit my fingers, bevel, and fly everywhere.

1) Start Practicing with an Old deck
2) Try to use momentum by twisting your wrist and decrease depending on the index flick
3) PRACTICE

Good Luck
