Two decks that share a watery theme, one by a famous magic retailer, the other by a physicist who does double duty as a graphic designer and operates under a "nom d'art" pseudonym.  The backs are bluish, but that's where the similarities end.

I don't own the aqua transducers, but I do like the look of them. The only thing is the faces. Little too regular I think. So I'm voting for the fathom. Not only do they look great, but I think they're a little underrated.

I'm not the biggest fan of Fathom - I think they're OK but could have been better.  However, the BT Aqua deck was part of the early batch, including Fire and Lava, that had plain-Jane faces and a totally screwed-up finish that lasted barely long enough for you to get the tuck box open!  I have to reluctantly vote Fathom.  But I can't say enough good things about the newer Transducer decks - freakin' awesome, gloriously intricate pips, beautiful backs and the finish the earlier decks really needed and deserved.  Here's hoping that those first three BT decks get a "version two" makeover sometime soon.

BTW: Quadfather - you forgot to vote in the poll.

Fathom - To me, this deck stands out more. I thought the Aqua deck was wonderful, but I was swayed by the1eyedjack's online review.

Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that does fade,
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.

(Appropriately, in just an hour it will be Talk Like Shakespeare Day.  Don, I know there are Shakespeare decks out there; how about a couple for the next battle?)

I actually have all the remaining battles set up until the end of this particular tournament.  And if you can find a major playing card retailer (other than perhaps Merz67 or US Games Systems) that's making and/or selling Shakespeare decks AND you can get this bunch interested in buying them, then "milady, I shall acquiesce to your desires of the boards of paste..."  :))  There's little point in holding a contest between decks these people neither heard of nor own (as I discovered on a few of the less popular matches we've held so far).  Closest thing I could probably come with would be some of the aged reproduction decks that Card-Shark.de makes, but they're not exactly best-sellers around here, plus they're more like decks William would have used rather than being about him!

BTW: you never did overtly say which deck you voted for!

I had to vote transducers on the strength of the other transducer decks.
Not sure what it is about the fathom deck, but something about it rubs me the wrong way and I find it to be one of the ugliest decks I own.

OK, voting is over, and Fathom is the clear winner here.

The comment winner is Soliloquy - again!  (And I haven't won once.  :( )

New contest is on deck and ready to be loaded...
