Ah i was thinking of doing the same thing, but to playing card artists/magicians.

Like Alex (from aether)
Lance T. Miller
Dan and Dave
David blaine
De'vo (ugh)
Etc Etc

Then you'd love this:
http://www.dananddave.com/autograph/
One free autographed D&D card, mailed to you...

Blaine's autograph should be pretty easy - I've seen decks sold on his site with his signature on one of the jokers.  Not available now, but will probably come up again sooner or later.

ok thank you, also i have 11 smites so i think people are just smiting for fun now.

Are you sure it's not because you're on Santa's naughty list?  :D

Yah, seriously. I have no idea why I have 14 smites. I think that's the most anyone has.

Someone (or someones) out there don't like you - you're now up to -27!

Hey, don't take it seriously - and don't hang bulleyes on yourself!

Like if the price of baseballs and shipping didn't cost so much, I'd be sending all of the celebrities I listed baseballs.

I'd think it's easier to mail a playing card - a SINGLE playing card.  A baseball must weigh as much as at least a pack of cards.  On top of that, the cards are much easier to store and display unless you have unlimited space in which to display them.  Since I'm not one of the 1%, I certainly don't fit in that category...

Exactly! A simple envelope or document box will fit more than enough to send it there and back (if you include a return envelope.

Depends on personal preference. I love red cards, so I will be getting a red deck. If you like blue, then by all means get blue.

I would honestly love to (he is one of my favorite actors, a magician, and on my favorite show How I Met Your Mother), but he doesn't sign autographs through te mail. The people I am sending to are verified and return mail signed 95% of the time.

Well, in that case you might want to spell his name correctly.  I would guess that Mr. McFarlane might take offense...  :))

There's a contest on right now at Club 808 to win a Rider Back uncut with his autograph on it!  He was one of the first two interviewees to get published on the site.

And I recommend getting a second blank-faced deck.  If 95% will respond, it means that 5% won't and you'll be short a couple of cards!  Plus you might want to keep the pack with you, in case you ever bump into a celebrity.  I've had it happen to me countless times...

Michael J. Fox
Norman Fell
Nastassja Kinski
Steve Martin
Yoko Ono
Andy Warhol
Christopher Lambert
Dave Prowse
Al Roker
Rudolph Giuliani (while he was still New York City's Mayor)

And as far as magicians...

David Roth
Alex Pandrea
Magick Balay
Kevin Reylek
Lee Asher
David Blaine
Tony Chang
Chris Mayhew
Ricky Smith
Dan Buck
Dave Buck
Asi Wind
Adam Blumenthal (owner of Tannen's in NYC)

...and card enthusiasts...

Tom and Judy Dawson (prominent card collectors and authors of "Hochman's Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards")
Emmanuel Jose (designer of the Curator deck and the forthcoming Clipped Wings deck [which I was lucky enough to christen!])

...and while I'm certain I left a few out, that's a pretty comprehensive list.

Well, if your into collecting cards from deck designers, why not try Brooke Michaels? Doesn't he have something to do with the Brown Rider Back?

How about Merz? He's designed the most decks so far! :P

In all seriousness, hit up Kickstarter for those deck designers. I've received numerous cards just from backing someones project on Kickstarter, and I'm pleased about it.

One question: How about you able to contact them through the internet?
- Only a selected few have an actual website.
- If they don't have a website, magic companies aren't very likely to just hand out personal information.

I didn't baptize anyone, you lunkhead!  I named his "Clipped Wings" deck!

The magicians I listed are not people I met over the Internet.  I met them face-to-face, in real life.  You should know the Blaine and Asher stories by now.  The others - I went to the Blue Crown's 1st Anniversary Party nearly a year ago (it's been that long?), I attended lectures at Tannen's, I joined them for "after-lecture" get-togethers in restaurants...

Some have a website.

Some sell products on someone else's website.

Some might even have talent agents.

Are you familiar with how to properly do research?  You're starting to sound like my stepson - if the necessary data for his homework isn't literally dropped on his lap, he can't find it, but even if he did, he wouldn't read it, nay, refuses to read it, if it's more than half-a-paragraph.  Show him a Wikipedia entry that answers his question, and if it's lengthy his eyes will glaze over and he'll give up.  Mind you, he can find his favorite sneakers and headphones online in less time that it took me to write this sentence and recite back to me all the different production models of cars used by law enforcement in the US...

If getting their autographs is something you really want to do, something you're truly interested in - then do some research.  You might even need to use (gasp) snail mail!  You may find a difficult-to-obtain nugget of information and feel that satisfaction of learning something new.

Okay, thanks for the help. And yes, I did just briefly glaze over the information. And, if your stepson is in HS, than that is me! It's funny how you describe my entire life online in that little paragraph. I just entered their name into Google, and looked at like the top five website posted...it was a school day after all...so not much research could be done. :))

Don. What you just said there is me in a nutshell. can't be f**ked looking up info if I don't have to and it's hard if I do have to.

I can name a lot of weapons being made and put into circulation, On the school bus there are 2 year 5 (now year 6) kids who would talk guns. I would have to correct them both! even with Lord of The Rings! I know a lot about both of those things, but try to get me to explain what happened when Cpt James Cook landed in Aus and I am sweating like a Pedo in a Preschool because I wouldn't be able to tell you!

Well James Cook established a colony but it almost failed. Just like the when the English came and established and settled in Jamestown on the East Coast of the United States. Just like Cook's colony it was saved by reinforcements but in Australia it was women, a whole ship of women (Now that would really float your boat :)) ) and there was no help from the native people. Whereas in America the Stuarts were saved by the native Indians (where the yanks get thanksgiving from). Fun fact! New York was once called New Amsterdam because the Dutch had control over it. The British then took over and named it New York. Then the Revolution happened and the British Colonists became independent, hence America. Fun Fact Two! Both Australia and America were built on Rum. Yes, rum acted as a currency in both countries for a period of time. History class dismissed.

Btw That was a very very weird simile...
