  • Ugh, I wish I had money for THAT deck!
HOPC has reprinted the NOCs in the known and loved colors but with thinner borders!. Apparently there is a new marking system within the simple backs that allow you to tell the suit, but not the value, of the face. Ordering within the first 12 hours allows you to be automatically entered in three of their contests. The contests are: winning a Jerry's Nugget deck, an unreleased HOPC deck, or a Bee RJRTC Watermelon deck.

I prefer the v2 with the thinner borders and simplistic court cards.

Yes.
My main problem with the first NOC decks was the completely standard court cards. These make a really cool, and very colorful tweak to that. Plus thin borders. This rocks

I'm also interested in the marking system. How the hell did they pull that off?

I have no idea how they're going to manage it. I mean the back is completely solid. I bought a deck so I'll see whenever it gets sent out!

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

It's a lot easier to understand when you consider that Kevin Reylek stated the marks would only indicate the cards suit, not value.

That definitely makes it easier, but even so...
It's just one flat block of color.

my guess on the marking system is that the thickness of the border varies (i.e. clubs has a thinner or thicker border on the right side, hearts on the top, spades on left etc...) the only downside to this method is that there would have to be a one way back system to distinguish which way is up or down. I dunno just a guess....could be way off though.  :)

I actually know what the system is.  It's freakin' brilliant in how it's hidden.  You guys will see it soon enough...

Your not going to tell us?

No, I'm not.  It's not my trade secret to give, really.  I will tell you it has nothing to do with alterations of the border thickness.

A clue - have you ever seen a really BLACK deck with an intricate back design, but the whole thing ends up muddy-looking and the black doesn't evenly cover the white surface of the deck sheet?

I shouldn't have even given up that much - please keep speculations to yourself rather than posting them here out of respect for the designer.

But once people get the deck are they not going to share it?
