Eh, it's a gimmick.  And it's been done, too.  Not something I'm racing to back.

I wish I could vote "needs a lot of work, but has potential" because I think that the idea is a neat one, but this just isn't too eye-catching.

Looks like the same concept as The Hedge deck.

Just not as well executed.

I had thought of doing a project like this in the future, but I don't know now. Not sure there needs to be 3-4 different maze decks out there.

He seems to be making a good start, and while I'm not a fan and don't see the attraction, there are plenty of people who do.  And while I've never had the idea for a maze deck, I have considered doing a 'linking' deck, which is a card game played with specially marked cards and is kind of a maze game... kinda.   ::)

I just noticed something as I was looking over this project.  They're using the same "Professional Bicycle" box format that CARC owns!  Somehow I don't think they asked for permission on that one...unless it's a USPC-owned concept and not CARC's alone.  But I don't think that's the case.  Look even harder and you can see the same barcode reveal on the bottom and "Ivory Finish" on the side.

I get the feeling that the designer "borrowed" a CARC deck photo for his mockup without cutting out the things he should have cut out...

See...I just knew that it wasn't going to end up saying "Professional" on the box like the previous photo.  Are they embossed or smooth, Jay?

Another deck for Rob to update!  You hear that, Rob?  :))

Hey Don,

I'm not sure if they are embossed or smooth.
The deck pics are from Ebay.  I'm still waiting to order a deck.

I got mine the other day, there's no embossing on the tuck box.

Thanks for that, Ben, but I was referring to the actual cards, not the tuck box.  Embossed would be "Air Cushion" or similar, while unembossed would possibly be "Ivory" or "Smooth".

Sorry about that. They are Air Cushion Finish, and there is no barcode on the bottom of the box. He did use a photo from CARC for the mockup.

It's a shame the creator didn't know the difference.  If I had invested, thinking it would be a pack of "Professional Bicycle Playing Cards", I would have been quite disappointed.

I may be wrong here, but I think it was pretty obvious that this deck was appealing to a different kind of collector from the target audience of CARC, et al, or at least, a different part of the collector's brain. I wasn't looking at this and saying, "Hey! He's using casino stock!" I realize, your mileage may vary. But like you, I never assumed that this was actually the kind of deck he was going to produce. The maze was always the thing. I also think he stated somewhere in the description that this was going to be on bicycle stock.

(And I agree, the creator shouldn't have used CARC's photo as a starting point, but how many people look at a car ad and assume the girl in the bikini comes with the car?)
There are no 3's in rousselle. There are, however, two s's, two l's, two e's (but not in a row), an r, an o, and a u.

Wait - she doesn't?  Oh, man...  Not even as an accessory package?  Dude, that's false advertising!  :))

Welcome to the boards, Rousselle - you should make a topic on the "Introduce Yourself" board and let the gang (or at least those that didn't know you from elsewhere) greet you as well!

Got this deck and liked the design and layout.  I guess I'm a little different than some of the collectors.  I found the concept unique and fun.  Added a nice twist to a traditional deck.  Then again, while I do cater towards the transformed decks, I also tend to like anything with unique concept card faces.  Nice job!
