I do think it's kinda useful though. I've had many-a boxes get crushed in my pocket. These stays probably would have prevented that.

...The key word is "many" though. I have at least 10 decks that I use for just keeping with me for practicing flourishes on the bus and such. (I'll use my Legends one day, my 125 Anniversary, the next, etc.) Unless I buy 10 of these, they're not too useful.

Exactly! Boxes get crushed people and it sucks when it does. I'd like to add; a deck of cards will last much longer than a week for a Cardist. And if you are cycling you decks, like many Cardists do, they will last even longer. Equipping these to multiple decks is useful to and really, just another accessory that will help flourishers out. As for collectors, I think here they are absolutely out of the question. Like Don said, collectors won't open decks so there's no point mentioning them. So for Cardists, this along with a Porper is just another useful tool and there is no denying that this is an innovative product... For people who extensively use their cards.

So, you'd pop these into your tuck boxes for the decks you rotate...at five bucks each set...  It's the Dan & Dave deck tax!

Personally, I'd rather spend all that extra cash on more cards.  And I have yet to see a box get crushed WHILE THERE IS A FULL DECK INSIDE...

Look I don't particularly need them but I would have to deal with broken, squashed banged up boxes. And the thing is Don. Usually there are cards in my hand when I'm out. So I ask you this, when your cards are almost always out of the box when you are out, what do you do with the box with the exception of putting it into a clip? Which I might add is a hassle when you're in a rush.

I'm sorry, but there is no way that your box will get crushed while the cards in still inside, and even when they are out of the box, there will be nothing that two little strips of metal down the short sides can do to stop it from getting crushed if it gets lent or stood on.

I put it in a pocket.  If I don't have a shirt pocket handy, I'm usually wearing a vest or a jacket.  When I'm without even those, I carry a haversack with enough empty space to protect my cards just fine.

Regardless, those little strips of metal won't help the box survive any better under the majority of circumstances than a box not equipped with them.  If you sit or step on your box, it's getting crushed.  I've never had issues with bad things befalling my boxes besides that.  It really is a non-solution to a non-problem.  If anything, a case of accidental crushing could be made WORSE with the metal strips because they might tear through the weak folded edges of the box.

In the words of Bender from Futurama "A test! I demand a test!"

Who's willing to volunteer to test the amount of punishment a tuck box can take with and without these stays? With and without cards inside?

Have you seen the field tests on Dan and Dave's Instagram?

I'd also like to note that of course the box won't get crushed with the cards in them... The box gets crushed when stood or sat on when there are NO cards in them. The stays prevent the box from being crushed, the box simply springs back to shape. If you don't believe me watch a 'field' test.

These look great. Innovation at its best. Funny how a company that wants to sell decks, creates products that help prolong the use of a single deck or its tuck box. Between keeping the cellophane partly on, "porper card clips", washing the oils from your hands and now "deck stays", a brick could last years.

For serious cardists and magicians, a deck will last a week or less.

Well sure, I dont have time to spend hours playing with decks. Nor do I want to lose female partners because of it. I consider myself more then a collector at this point though. Serious, No. Able to perform things because of Trilogy and Mechanic? Yes!

Why would you want to stand on an empty box? Unless you're simply just wanting to test if it can withstand your weight ...
Also, you wouldn't sit on an empty box when performing. If you're table hopping or performing any restaurant magic, the empty box will either be on the table, in your jacket pocket or a spectator is holding it for you.

Dude, I'm not going to stand on an empty box for no reason. I do cardistry and when you need to get rid of the box quickly you might just dispose of it in your back pocket. Then you may sit down and bam! Squashed box. You might stand on it by accident. Someone may sit on it by accident. You don't know... But it happens and there's no denying it. The stays are a great prevention tool for that particular occurance. It's also good for keeping the structural integrity of the box in good nick.

So, you're willing to buy what is in essence a five-dollar insurance policy against you accidentally sitting on a deck - and mind you, only in a certain way, because if you sat on the bottom of the box, it would get crushed.  And that's a policy that's only good for the box you buy it for - if you get a new box, you need a new five-dollar insurance policy.

Yeah, you have fun with that.  I can think of better uses for the cash.  For instance, buying more cards...

Reminds of of the time a friend told me of an acquaintance she knew who owned a Lamborghini Countach back when they were state-of-the-Lamborghini-art.  She said that the car cost a quarter-million dollars, and to drive it in our state, the insurance policy was a quarter-million dollars a year, because of the great potential for high-speed accidents.  Whether it's true or not is one thing, but I can't help but draw comparisons...

Well, I suppose it depends on the person. Personally, I wouldn't buy it. Not my cup of tea.The box itself goes in my jacket pocket or I would hand it to someone to hold. I've never had a problem with a box being crushed whenever I've performed. I suppose, if it's happened to someone one to many times, then realistically, that person should be more careful with their box and where they put it.
I mean, come on, how many times have you seen people just sit down half way during their own routine? Once the routine is over, you return your cards back into its box.
I can't b the the only one that does that?

"Insurance" Since you put it that way. Your point makes more sense now. Why pay $5 when I can just buy a new deck for about the same price.

For that matter a company could sell plain white tuck box replacements. You don't even need USPCC for that.
