Is this the place where one should come to rally support for a couple of really understated potentially awesome decks?

The EclecDeck, while not a useable deck, much like Dan and Daves Ultimate Deck Is (and only in my opinion) an awesome piece of work... I'd love to see this come back to KS with a goal to be printed with the USPCC... The other one that I really liked was Rabbit Rabbit http://bcthree.com/ Although it had unfinished artwork, this guy seemed to display a real talent for design, I was somewhat disappointed in it's demise.

Just food for thought, and I'd love to hear others thoughts on these two decks.

How about I rename this topic to something more fitting?  We already have a topic on the EclecDeck.

Rabbit Rabbit, if I recall, didn't get funded because it lacked two things - a completed (or at least near-completed) design, and solid salesmanship behind it.

EclecDeck is perfectly fine if you're just using it casually.  But for more professional uses, yes, it's nearly useless.  However, this is usually the case for more art decks - they have a different purpose than simply being playing cards.

  • I like birds.

If you're going into Kickstarter decks, a deck has to have one thing: A complete back design. the faces can be sketches, the pips can be sketches, but the back is the crux of the deck. He only had a few rabbits sketched out. Also, people like to see regular art releases. the Federal 52 deck is the perfect example of that. Every week, there'd be at least one new court card, if not two. While I liked the Rabbit Rabbit deck, I think it needed to be much further along the design process.

The Eclec deck... I thought was awful. It just looked like a bunch of lazy scribbles on card templates to me. No real effort. if you want a truly amazing transformation deck, check out the Curator deck.

Actually, EclecDeck was just some guy who took a Rider Back deck and doodled in it to make what he made.  Enough people liked what he made that he had a graphic artist clean up the work to make it printable.  It's a transformation deck in the truest sense.  I don't necessarily like the art much myself, but it was clearly drawn by someone who had at least some drawing talent.

The Curator deck is a great deck sure... It didn't truly follow the rules of a true transformation deck though, some cards are fantastic while some just seemed to drag themselves across the line (only my opinion). The ElecDeck just offered more for me, the art looked unfinished, some of the art almost amateur-ish, it looked almost rushed as if he knew his station was next and had to get it finished before the train came to a halt, and it did just look as though a guy took out his pen and was doodling, I suppose because it was. And therein lies it's beauty. Not something produced for the masses to garner true sales, rather an artist and his art.
