The Gentlemen 52

Project by Scott King
$9,000 goal, First created, $11 per deck

Quote
Our Gentlemen 52 playing card deck pays homage to all the splendor of growing hair from the chin, cheeks and upper lip. Thirteen distinctive facial hair styles comprise the deck. A faceless image reappears on cards two through 10 allowing players to easily visualize themselves on the cards, while the detailed jack, queen and king show examples of who wears a particular style best. We can’t think of anywhere better to enjoy such a diverse show of facial hair than right at your fingertips.

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Eh.  We've seen a few moustache decks come and go by now.  This might be enough to tip the scales and put moustaches on the same list as steampunk, zombies and Lovecraftian Mythos - played out.

The queens - only one looks remotely female, and she has the most fake-looking beard.

The kings - I wouldn't call all of those "handlebar" moustaches.

The jacks - Nor would I call all of those "the Claus".  This guy needs to bone up on his moustache research.

If I was still buying, I'd probably pass.

  • What does the Faukx say?

The number cards have just a blank head in the middle of the card with the appropriate amount of facial hair to represent the style named at the bottom.

Interesting idea, poorly orchestrated.

Pass.
Who wants to play '52 Card Pickup'?

Its a pretty neat deck. There are a lot of improvements i would personally make but its not half bad. Though the jack of spades is so out of place its not even funny.. Queens are horrific. Im gonna pledge for one and enjoy the ride. Depeding on changes to the back/courts etc i might pull out or continue wth my 1 deck pledge at the end.

EDIT: Wow just saw the faceless pips.. Prime example of making something worse by adding unecessary shit. The tuckbox is quite nice though.

I know what you mean.  I've seen much worse, but this is not exactly something I'd seek out.  Maybe if I was desperate to play some solitaire and it was the only deck in the house - but then again, there's always the apps on my phone...

I bought 1 deck with that cool looking box and a dealer coin.  Kind of cool little package for decent price

Now if only the deck was actually worth owning...  :))

Sorry - I just never took a liking to this deck AT ALL.

Stamped my feet, cried like a baby and took my ball and went home when he made them 1 way backs...  Only to jump back in at the last minute.  There's one of me born every minute.  It's just interesting enough to own IMHO.

Don

I only purchased 1 deck which will remain unopened. I am not a big fan of the courts, but I liked that little box with the deck inside.

I would never deny a person the joy of collecting what makes them happy.  If this makes you happy, even if it's only the cute wooden box, enjoy it!  :))

I can see why.  Those coins looks most impressive - almost makes you wish our currencies used the same process.
