Comic Con Deck

Project by: Cobey Pile/ Home Run Games
5th project, $9,500 goal, $8 & $9 earlybird, $10/1-$19/2 standard

Quote
After the last Comic Con we attended we thought, "We need a deck to celebrate all of the cool costumes and characters at Comic Con." After the initial creative process Michael Scott collaborated with Brad Ashworth to create the original art for Issue 1 of the Comic Con deck.

With Issue 1 we've included Super Heroes, Villains, Space Themes, Steam Punk, Cthulhu, Vikings, Fantasy and on and on.

We hope to come out with a new Comic Con issue deck each year.

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Nice choice of theme.  The comic book idea isn't terribly original since De'vo started it, but unlike De'vo, at least he's doing it differently and has cards with the same back.  I think it'll pull enough of the nerdcore to be a good success akin to the 8-Bit decks.

I did jump in on the $8 earlybird. He allows you to add as many as you want at the same price as your pledge. 2 decks for $16 is not bad considering being shipped at that price.
My issue is I have not received any of the 8 bit decks. I know he made an update about overseas printing delays. Some new comments on the 8 bit project, people are saying they have received the USPC/Bicycle branded decks. So that is encouraging.

Wow - so they used USPC and an overseas printer?  Sounds like a headache.

I live for these kind of decks. He used an overseas printer for his last project, 8-bit traditional, where he printed the 2600 and minis with a different company. He's still yet to deliver those, but has sent out the normal blue and red decks. Got mine today, need to message him, he didn't number them :/

I collected comics for a long time, still have a lot of my collection because I never get rid of collections, lol......anyway, that being said, these don't do much for me, can't really put my finger on why though. Wish them well on their project.

  • I am generally strange
Backed for two as they are damned cheap Early-Bird with international!
Happy with this, £12 for two decks of not bad looking decks!

While it's better than some of the early "8-Bit" decks, I'm in agreement on this - pass.  Perhaps there's enough comics nerds out there to make it a success.  (I use the term affectionately, as I used to be one myself!)  At the least, I can see his fans being interested.

I'm just curious about the use of "Comic Con" in the deck's title.  It shows up in the video, but not in these images.  I'd be willing to wager that Comic Con is a trademarked and copyrighted idea, something Cobey Pile would have to pay licensing on...

The video is a recycle of the last time he launched this. I'm guessing he didn't feel the need to do a new video.
The artwork is complete, it's just a matter of getting funded then printed.
I'm in for the early birds as they were dirt cheap. And there's a frickin' Cape :o
I like these, backs them, hope it gets funded

...'cause when I bust out my playing cards, the first question EVERYONE asks me is "Where's the cape, bro?"

Seriously?  A cape?  Didn't this guy watch "The Incredibles"?  :))

Not for me, even though I was a comic book collector at one time. That being said, I think these would have their fair share of sales on a Comic Shops check out area as a point of sale item.

Its got all the comic nerd favorites. Vikingman, Skullface AlienBody Lady, Spade-head Chinchilla Monster, and the infamous Inspector Tear

Comic collectors like comics, I think if it was associated with a con or a comic it would do much better.
I like to call paper coatings a finish. It makes Don happy.

Oh, man...  Too funny...  It sounds like a Peter Griffin monologue!  I can practically hear his voice as I read the words!

The last KS guy who attempted making a "comics" deck that wasn't based on an actual, in-print comic book franchise didn't fare very well.  But the "Home Run Games" brand is giving this deck a boost - they're already about half-funded.
