I'm guessing the gilding is "pure collector" here right? I can't imagine you can shuffle those.

Not my cup of tea, but I love the regular cards (and I was lucky enough to get one of those wooden boxes too!)

Gilded cards can be shuffled, but it tends to be a really messy process with gold flecks getting everywhere.  Forget anything involving weave or faro shuffles, as well.  Even a simple overhand shuffle will make things messy and glittery - you'll look like you've been wrist-deep in a strip club!

Gilding is beautiful, but not meant for a deck you're planning to use a lot.

Newest update

Quote
Wow!!! We can't believe it, but as we write this the Pagan project is 305% funded – so thrilling!!

First of all, we will definitely be printing the inside of the box, which was our biggest hope for this deck (outside of it getting funded!) and we just cannot thank you enough for getting us to this mark.

Oh wait, we can thank you more!! We are working on adding an extra feature that was not priced in as an overfunding goal, but we would really love to see it happen and know you would too – gold foil to the outside tuck box embossed design!! We are choosing a very toned-down gold foil – definitely reflective but with a deeper, almost aged-patina feel that glows instead of shines. The way we want to apply the foil is a little tricky so we are waiting to hear back from USPC to see if it can be done and what the pricing would be. If it can happen...then the Pagan gold will flow for all!! We should know by Friday and will post an Update as soon as we get an answer.

Thank you again, Everyone!! Exciting to be nearing the finish line with you!!

Talk soon, Linnea & Peter

My heart skipped a beat when I read about the possible gold foil on the box.

This deck just keeps getting better at every turn.

Update just posted

Happy Valentines Day, Everyone!

We received a great Valentine from USPCC today – the final Pagan proofs! It has been a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks with them on getting the color for this deck just right, but they finally nailed it. Many thanks to the prepress team at USPCC that went the extra mile to get this one just right for all of us!!

Sending on a few images of the deck – we couldn't wait to hang it up on our mood board at the studio and get some detail shots to send on to you.  This deck looks great in the photos, but it is even better in person.  We couldn't be more pleased and we are super excited to get the final deck in ours and your hands!!

Enjoy your weekend and we will be in touch soon when we receive our print date from USPCC!

Linnea & Peter

Looks great! I've never owned an uncut sheet but the one on the first image looks really small.

Hey guys, didn't see a post about this but Uusi has posted a few of the gilded Pagan decks for sale on their website for $125.
It's a steep price considering the limited run went for $70 during the campaign, but reasonable given the amount of detail and work that went into them hand gilding each deck.

That is only for their legacy decks. Pagans are online for sale right now, if they have any left.

Edit: As of right now I see only two of the gilded LE Pagans left

They appear to be gone now - they no longer appear on the page.

Justin, while we appreciate the new info, please keep each deck to a SINGLE topic.  I merged yours into the main topic.

Don,
I appreciate it. Looking under the LE deck still shows 2 available, listed on the same page as the non-gilded.

I will make sure to keep topics together!!

Get them while they last!! Yanno, if you want one!

Wow, I really like this artwork, especially how the centre design blends with the pips and numbers, feels really organic, and the back pattern is simple yet sophisticated.
Really well done!

They are only selling the 4 remaining gilded Pagan deck from the recent KS project.  All of the other gilded decks will only be available at the end of July

Well, checking there now on the LE Pagan page, they're sold out - even marked as such in red near the bottom of the page.

Can't wait for the gilded Pagan deck.  I'm one of the $70 suckers.  It would complete me.   Lol  Gilded decks were surprising common on first runs of cards in the 1900's, but it seems the USPCC doesn't want to make them anymore....   15,000 minimum order....

It probably has a lot to do with two big factors.
1) the cost of gold - the paint is typically 23K, give or take.
2) the cost of labor - the paint is applied by HAND.

Interesting note: I've discovered that the process or the paint must have improved noticeably since I was young.  De'vo donated some Blades Blood Metal decks and I have to say, the paint isn't flaking off like they used to.  They perform reasonably well, in fact, once they've been thoroughly shuffled to break up the bonds between neighboring cards straight out of the box.  I haven't attempted weave or faro shuffles yet, but all other aspects of the deck are within normal parameters with no apparent hindrance created by the silver paint.

I would not be surprised in the least if these gilded decks from Uusi perform equally as well.

Is that a gilded deck in the photo? How is it if it is one?

Here's a mixed set

I like them. The card's dark back and the gold edges really work together.
There are no clamp marks on the Pagans. There are on the Ramblers and Aladdins.
And the Pagan's gild is a much deeper gold.
Haven't played poker with them yet -- that's the real test!
