Can't wait for the gilded Pagan deck. I'm one of the $70 suckers. It would complete me. Lol Gilded decks were surprising common on first runs of cards in the 1900's, but it seems the USPCC doesn't want to make them anymore.... 15,000 minimum order....
It probably has a lot to do with two big factors.
1) the cost of gold - the paint is typically 23K, give or take.
2) the cost of labor - the paint is applied by HAND.
Interesting note: I've discovered that the process or the paint must have improved noticeably since I was young. De'vo donated some Blades Blood Metal decks and I have to say, the paint isn't flaking off like they used to. They perform reasonably well, in fact, once they've been thoroughly shuffled to break up the bonds between neighboring cards straight out of the box. I haven't attempted weave or faro shuffles yet, but all other aspects of the deck are within normal parameters with no apparent hindrance created by the silver paint.
I would not be surprised in the least if these gilded decks from Uusi perform equally as well.
