Yeah i agree setting a longer estimated delivery shouldnt simply result to more time to half ass. I hope it doesnt. Nathanael answered the low goal query saying that he was basically quoted $18,000 to print 3 decks (Given the fact that they're all very similar and in the same 'print run'). He also stated that due to the heavy 500% overfunding of his first project, he had some extra cash he was willing to put in.

Now that I have to call into question.  $18,000 to print three decks, one of which is a 10,000-deck run...  USPC would consider that entire project as THREE print runs, not "in the same print run".  At best, if the faces of all three decks were identical they might cut him a deal based on not having to change the plates for running the faces - but the limited edition deck has a different set of faces.  The limited edition deck alone could cost as much as 75-90% of the funds he took in, and the reds and blues, assuming the minimum 2.5K run, would be about $16-18K.  That means he'd be shelling out perhaps as much as an additional $14K out of pocket just to get the decks made, never mind packing and shipping them.

I'm not saying it's impossible that he's really gone deep into his own pockets on this - it's just that it's pretty deep.  I'm thinking he's already got side deals lined up for selling the deck to as many outlets as he can cut deals with, which would add to the project's bottom line in a way that doesn't appear in the KS totals.  He may have even gone for 10K runs on the red and blue decks anyway - big print runs get deeper per-deck discounts.

The only thing that's safe to say here is that there's a fair number of unknowns from the perspective of the backer.  Perhaps he's updated his backers with all this info - I have no idea, I haven't checked.  And that he's really shelling out a hefty amount of his own cash to get this done.

Part 2 of funding now opened

Looks like a follow up of a previous campaign

Yes, this is a follow-up of sorts.

The previous project was for the exact same deck - and it was successful.  The creator received a lot of requests for decks after the project closed, so it looks like he's giving people a second shot at getting in on this deck before it goes to press, according to the home page.

It's a gorgeous deck from the looks of it.  I wanted in first time around, waited, forgot, missed it, and backed for this second go-around moments ago.  The first project took in over $40K on an $18K goal, this has a $5K goal and is about a third of the way there.

What I absolutely LOVE about this campaign and the previous one - it's SIMPLE, in capitals.  The rewards are decks, decks and decks - that's it.  Not even uncut sheets - just decks.  I haven't seen a project do this in FOREVER.  I'm shocked more people don't do it, because it must MASSIVELY simplify the entire fulfillment process.  I'm all for a few extras here and there, but some projects just start looking like a flea market after a while, so I can certainly appreciate the simplicity.

This is from the update he posted to backers of his first Kingdoms of a New World project.

However, he makes no mention of uncuts in the current campaign.
