You and I need to get together and talk shop more often...    It's been a few weeks now since that shook down.

Yeesh.

It's absolutely insane for a Forum owner to throw out his mods like that. Mike has some really serious problems.

Getting back to the cards, why exactly did he even relaunch? The art's the exact same, and so is the goal. After the first project flopped so bad, you'd think he'd just throw in the towel and scrap the idea.

Technically, it wasn't a flop, per se - he shut the project down himself, though at a point where his chances of successful completion were pretty slim.

I believe it comes from his tenaciousness.  He's working to make this project a success - but seems to feel that sheer force of will alone will be enough to do it.  Unless he does something to breathe new life into the project, it doesn't look good.

Would it be terribly boorish to create a deck That actually succeeded at doing what his deck is failing at?
Make a well designed, well thought out, well presented and well titled deck themed after a dark take on Alice in Wonderland; something inspired by American McGee's Alice (The truly definitely dark take on the story) with a Victorian spin that makes it feel more in line with a classic playing card aesthetic.

And does it bother anyone else that the Queen of Hearts isn't the queen of Hearts? I feel like I must have missed where someone must have already posted this..

You might do well to license American McGee's Alice...  The Name of the Wind was licensed and it earned a half-million dollars.

If you can do the job better than this deck, by all means - go for it.

I will start with my opinion and then explain it

I don't like this deck

I don't feel that the artwork taken from a fantastic source is done any kind of Justice.
It feels crammed in. And as far as the concept of a dreary alternate universe... This is created by a spot of blood and the cards being "muddied up"
I was so happy when this was cancelled the first time. Now that it is back, with so many days to reach it's goal, I fear that it may succeed.
I don't say this out of spite but out of the fact that I would love to see a decent deck made using the same artwork and if this succeeds no one would try it.

As far as a darker American McGees Alice, I know Shane tyree was working on a darker deck when he was with Albino dragon. They were going to do that one and for some reason they decided to go with the straight version with "White Rabbit". Which I was ok with as it was a nice deck... however he used the darker version of the Cheshire cat he created which I didn't feel went with the whole feel. 
I contacted Erik after the campaign ended (but before Shane got the boot and asked if they would be doing the darker version, at the time he said they would)
But I digress

It took 28 days to raise barely 7k, so I doubt it will reach 15k in the next 16 days.
