Hi!

My name is Kurt Bieg, I'm from America, living in New York City. I'm introducing myself to the forum because I was banned immediately from United Cardists without ever even posting a single reply (I was trying to talk to some of the members that were making fun of designs and make changes based on their feedback). When I started to Google the IP ban I found this much more accepting and happy community and wanted to join and introduce myself.

I've been making digital games for about 4 years and recently made an original solitaire variant called 4 Thrones. People liked it so much that they asked me if I would consider making physical card decks of the ones in the game. So I jumped in head first into making a custom printed decks :)

I'm happy I did too, it's super exciting to see all these amazing new designs and decks, hopefully one day I'll be mega rich, and I'll buy all of them!

Anyway, I know some other people on here experienced the same treatment from UC, and I wanted to thank you guys for being non-exclusive and welcoming.

If you get a chance, let me know what you think of the decks on the Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/simplemachine/4-thrones-playing-cards

Oh, and if you were wondering, this was the thread I was banned from :( Kills me I can't even say a single word to them.

Whoa ... just read your intro. What is going on over there?

Un. Real.

I'm glad you left and sorry to hear about the drama. It's helpful to hear that my experience wasn't by itself. I tried three times to post to that thread, even asking the moderator for advice (that's when my IP was banned), thanking everyone for their feedback. Well, some good came out of it. I made changes to the standard playing card decks (adding suit and value to the bottom right corner) and redesigned it from the ground up to be more explanatory based on feedback in that thread.

Geez, that place is crazy town.

Well. Great to finally talk to you, and thanks for posting my Kickstarter to the thread. Too bad most of those guys immaturely trashed my design. Oh, well, focus on the positive. This is an open community and I'm really excited to connect with a new enthusiasts.

Welcome to the boards, Kurt.   You can show off progress of your decks, or literally anything you make, in our Design & Development board. There you will get a mix of a praise and critique, all to make your end-product as awesome as possible.

You can discuss anything related to cards in Playing Card Plethora. You can chill out and talk about anything in The Talk Park, and if you need to quench your thirst for spamming, the Lolaq is there for that.

Enjoy your stay!

Great info, and thanks for the warm welcome!

I'll be sure to post to the deck to the Design & Development board! That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for :)

All the best!

kurtbieg - You have to grow some thick skin.  Your not going to please everyone.  Your Kickstarter looks pretty good and your cards are functional.  I don't anything majorly wrong.  Your just in a small market, but there are people who like minimalistic cards.

I thought we put live KS projects in the PCP?  I'm so confused...I already moved his topic there!

Thanks for the feedback on the KS, you're right on, gotta have thick skin, it's sometimes the only thing that can keep you going :) You're right about not making everyone happy too, that's something that can end up ruining a completely great project.

I checked yours out, nice layout, and interesting to learn about the Ace and additional courts. Never heard of that.
