I'm curious...has anyone read anything about whether the prizes will be awarded? Some contests are set up where all prizes will be rewarded, no matter what, and some state that prizes that remain in the pool at the end of the contest period won't be awarded. I scanned the rules, but don't remember anything one way or the other. If they will be awarded, some folks are going to be winning soon.
Still just points for me and my wife.
If I was forced to guess, it's programmed into the software that a randomly chosen spin, for example, the 52,969th spin, will be the winner of prize "X", the 34,345th spin will win prize "Y", etc. Estimates were made as to how many spins will be made, etc., and contingency plans are in place so if the required spin doesn't happen by the last day, it will be reprogrammed based on averages from previous days and the prizes will be gone on the last day. Again, this is strictly a guess.
Simply put, they WANT those prizes to be won. It would end up as very bad PR for the company if they weren't. I looked over the rules as well.
The website's terms of use don't indicate anything about the rules for a contest and dispersal of prizes that were not won. It does, however, have some interesting legal-ese about how when you buy something from them, you don't actually own it - they do! What you're buying is a non-exclusive right to use what you've bought. (I'm assuming this is in reference to intellectual property such as the secrets of a magic trick or similar.)
I also noticed that the company is headquartered (or at least does business in) Charleston, SC and is governed under SC laws. Interesting - especially since 52 Plus Joker is planning their next convention for that same city... I should talk with Tom about possibly arranging a visit!
