Snagged an EB, but unless they improve this I doubt I'll hold on to it. Very minimalistic project page (not in a good way), only 2 face cards shown, blatant 1-way back...

Don: customers for you  ::)

I try to get them BEFORE they launch - but most just don't find me in time.  Perhaps I should launch a Kickstarter project...  :))

The moment I saw this in the "Risks and challenges", I knew to stay away:

The Risks and Challenges are us waiting for you to realize just how AWESOME this project is!
Shoot us your pledge so we can get this deck to you as soon as possible!
The deck will be put into production just as soon as our campaign is done and goals met!
Help us get you this exquisite piece of art!

If this was a prospectus for a company about to offer their IPO, it would crash and burn.  It demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of what's involved in running a KS campaign.  It reminds me of those car ads where someone asks two cars questions about their features, value, etc. and the second car says goofy things like "New Car Smell!" or "Shiny!" in bright lights overhead.  This is a definite case of the second car...

  • You only go around once - spin hard as you can!
I have to agree that the KS page needs work, but a lot of first-time project 'managers' seem to not do their homework.  I can't vouch for these people, but they're from Savannah Georgia, and I know one of them is a friend of a friend, so I don't really think anything funky is going on.

I hope those aren't "Famous Last Words"...  >:(

A project doesn't have to be funky for the creators to have made serious miscalculations or other misjudgments.  Many "fraud" or "successful failure" projects started with great intentions but poor planning.  That "Risks and challenges" statement sounds like it's coming from a cheerleader rather than a person with a business plan.

This deck really isn't my cup of tea, but damn that voice-over guy in the video was awesome! I wish I had a friend who could do that type of silky voice-over for my videos!

I think the deck has a solid chance of making it. If nothing else, it rides on the heels of the Sherlock decks (more literary theme stuff). I don't think this deck holds up to the Sherlock standard, but it doesn't need Sherlock numbers to fund either.

I did some voice work when I was a film student in college.  I was also a DJ/on-air talent at an alt-rock radio station in my early 20s.

Did he write a poem about an orangutan? Because I've never heard of it and it seems ridiculously random. Like putting a tiger in one of those revolutionary war decks.

He wrote a short story about a murderous orangutan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Murders_in_the_Rue_Morgue

Wow - how, er, "enthusiastic"...

The creators posted they got them May 1st and are now delivering.  If anyone ordered some, let us know what you think in the Deck Reviews board.

Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm, I was just sharing an update. Wasn't my cup of tea so I didn't get any myself.
