Poker Ball of playing cards

I'm following Kete Moon at Facebook and he posted a link to his blog with a picture attached. It's a ball styrofoam with parts from playing cards glued on to it, it looks really cool. Wanted to share it here to those who haven't seen it yet

I might try to make one of these myself

Are you sure it's Styrofoam?  I've always found it hard to glue things to Styrofoam, and the uncovered ball at the bottom looks more substantial than Styrofoam - more like wood, actually.

Regardless, they look cool.  I think it would be a great project as a wall covering.  Make one good-sized square, scan it, erase the visible seams, replicate it on the right paper and you've got a kickass wallpaper.

It's possible that the Styrofoam balls are covered in an outer layer of faux wood.  It would keep them light while giving the appearance of wood, as well as make them easier to affix things to their surface.

I think these are great. My mind wanders - how about a set of 12 miniatures for your golfing friend; or one with finger holes for a bowler [does anyone bowl anymore???]

In New York, bowling is experiencing a comeback with the creation of some interesting nightclubs equipped with proper bowling lanes, all the bells and whistles intact.  It's been going on for a few years now, largely among hipsters.
