  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
So I have a lot of downtime at work and I have been able to get around the internet blocker on work computers so I spend an inordinate amount of time on here reading through posts.
Unfortunately I haven't found away around the program block on the same computers, so all I have at my disposal to be creative is MS Paint.
So between time, playing cards and MS Paint I thought it would be fun to see what people can do with this... uh.. Classic? Program.

If you have MS Paint and a little bit of free time I would love for you to throw in a design for a playing card back, funny, ridiculous, ridiculously good (considering) or just conceptually interesting you should scribble it out and throw it in a post.
Stick Figures, Steampunk, Zombies and lots of Circles absolutely welcome!!
Extra points for painfully bad pictures!

Here is a template if anyone would like.

Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

I will start with one I threw together for another topic while I was trying to illustrate a point but I would love to see what you all can bring to the table.
I call it my Double-Flag and Stick deck!

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

For Mac users like me, there's a free download called Seashore that functions a lot like MSPaint, but with a little extra in the features department, like how it has layers and Paint doesn't.

Trust me, you don't want to see my "paint program" card back.  The most sophisticated thing I've done with Paint (back when I still used a Windows PC at home) was copying damaged DVD covers and retouching them with Paint to conceal the damage when I printed them.  I keep my DVDs mostly in binders, and not all DVDs come with an insert card to slip in next to the disc, particularly those with a thick cardboard "lid" attached to a plastic disc holder back.  It was simply sampling some of the neighboring colors to make a brush to retouch creases, scrapes and stickers that wouldn't come off cleanly.

C'mon Don! I know everyone would love to see you throw something fun or cheeky together. It can be geometric or lines or you could channel your inner Jackson Pollock!
I'll bet you would have fun!

As "fun" as that might sound, I have too many other things eating away at my free time.

... you did this on MS Paint?! :O

Ooooh, thanks for that tidbit! I'm a Mac user too, and that program might come in handy. :)

I did, yeah. They don't let us have pens or paper at work to protect client information so I have gotten pretty decent with the program. I kind of enjoy the limitations that MS Paint creates, it's a fun challenge.

I'm thinking of doing this as a stretch goal on my project, what do you think?

But where are the goggles?  There's gotta be some goggles...  :))

OK, that was fun, but who's got the next worthy card back made from the lowly Windows accessory app?

Love it!! You should pull out all of the stops for that, Bee stock, metallic ink etc... Really go all out!

You'd be surprised, people might just go for it! Case in point:
First there was this: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/
and after they built a following, they did this: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14293468/homestuck-adventure-game

The Alpha Deck. I'm going to make a kickstarter now. Limited edition. Rare. Stretch goal $50000 for a red deck.

If I were an eskimo, I would build my igloo next to a supermarket.

Add steampunk, and zombies to the cards, and we have a winner.

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.
