if you do a faro like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbfJ7oTh5qA) they don't... faro

I have tried 2 decks so far, no go. So this doesn't seem like a traditional cut to me. USPCC cuts their cards with a curved/beveled edge so that when they come against each other they "ramp" up each other - these cards just but heads and STOP.

I would still put these cards below Fourneir, USPCC and Expert

new update from MPC

Quote
MPC Decks

You should all by now have received your MPC playing cards. Some might have taken longer than others due to their location. Anyway, hope you like them and are having fun with them.

Feedback

We have received some very positive feedback especially on the design and handling of the cards which we are ecstatic about as much effort was put into the design and manufacturing of the deck. We have also received comments on where we need improvements which we seriously do value too as these are coming direct from our customers. We definitely do see the further need to improve especially in the cutting aspect of the cards. Following these comments, we are now in the midst of sourcing a new cutting machine which will improve the cards significantly in this area. We are also carrying out other smaller scale improvements which should make the decks even more impressive.

Your Support

Your continued support and words of encouragement pushes us to do even better and more. We are in this for the long term so your support is much valued and we hope that you will see us grow to new heights knowing that you helped us along the way. After our initial MPC project, we have received a wave of new customer projects for customized playing cards. Thank you so much for using us. We promise to keep on improving.

Next Kickstarter Project

We are working hard on our next Kickstarter project which is going to be very unique in the way that they're being printed. We have invested heavily on a new machine which I won't reveal what it is right now but the effect is mind blowing and we think the public will love it too. Definitely one for the collectors. I'll keep you posted on its release when the time comes.

Thanks again for your continued support. If you haven't subscribed to us on YouTube, Facebook or Google+ yet, please connect with us now as we'd hate to lose you.

If you have any questions, feel free to send them to me.

Best
Alex

the card stock was nice - and if they fix their "cut" so that the cards can faro - this would put them on par with LEGEND/EXPERT IMO

Are their coatings as good?  LPCC and EPCC have come out with card laminates that are hard to beat.

MPC cards, in my opinion, are not bad at all for the stuff that I do (tabled shuffles, gambling demos, etc).

They have a traditional cut (as in the rounded edge is on the face, and the sharp edge on the back, and so I like them. They faro great on a table.

In terms of their coating... it's not a varnish type of coating like the Founiers or the Legends, and so MPC cards feel closer to USPCC than Legends.

The MPC cards are no way near as slippery as cards magic finish (that's a good thing in my opinion, because I absolutely hate magic finish!!)... I actually think they have a pretty good balance of slip and tack. Not as good as the Legends coating, but still, better than USPCC I think.

My only complaint against MPC cards is the way that corners get badly chipped when doing tabled faros. If they get that sorted, they'd be very good, I think.
With this signature I'm following the example set by Fes: There is only ONE letter L in my display name. "Holly" is a female name... and I'm a bearded guy who's into weightlifting. There's nothing feminine about me brother!

ok here is my weak-sauce comparison. The sides and edges feel like nautical playing cards from Edo Huang and the faces of the cards feel like Massa (whomever made those) if you can imagine those two decks coming together...

If they get the cutter, and if it works like USPC's cutter, they should be fine.  But cutting the cards one at a time through the same die, you get a uniformity of shape and no "lip" near the cut edge.  That lip is the result of the pressure applied when pushing multiple cards (even multiple decks) through the die at once.  It may sound slower to do it one at a time, but you get a better cut and the automation makes the job much simpler and quicker.  All that remains then is to keep the die's cutting edge sharp and maintain the machine.

Don - in going back to "our conversation" (ahem cough cough) traditional cut is when the blade cuts the deck from face to the back? And I always heard Richard Turner likes a non-traditional cut?

M-O... you're right about the definition of a 'traditional cut'. However, Richard Turner prefers the traditional cut, because it lends itself better to gambling moves and face down shuffling.

Traditional cut all the way for Richard Turner. I love those gold seal, bee stock, bicycle rider-backs he had made.
