Sorry Don, you really did not think this comment through too well. First of all, as explained on the campaign, this Kickstarter campaign is simply meant to "KICKSTART" the campaign, not fund the whole project. Second of all, if I only get maybe 150 backers to "fund" the campaign then I am only shipping out ~150 decks...not the full 1,152 decks. I can't believe you wasted all of this time to make up fake stuff just to slam the deck that we clearly know you do not like. That's cool that you don't like it, but if you could please stop posting fake, non-existent stuff it sure would be cool.
Don, I'm also sorry you don't like Peter Wood's artwork. I know I'm not alone to say that I love it. Again, we have different taste.
I'm kind of saddened again that all this forum seems to be able to do is slam ideas that do not fall within their idea of what they might like. To the point of making up bogus scenarios like Don has done here, who is the moderator. Seriously, if you are truly going to be a "playing card forum" then maybe you should become that and welcome ALL COLLECTORS and not rip apart those who might like something different. Not to mention rip apart artist like Peter Wood. My goodness.
Even if you're only shipping out about 150 decks, you've still committed to making the entire print run of 1,152 decks. I calculated getting 200 decks out to fifty backers in the cheapest manner possible, but with the entire print run being made, since that's what you've committed yourself to do - a print run of exactly 1,152 decks, nothing less, nothing more. And you conveniently left out the part where I explained a scenario where the deck could pay for itself completely, depending on your per-deck costs.
There's nothing fake or made up about the possible scenarios I put forth - but if you're willing to subsidize the cost of getting the decks made and shipped, then more power to you. And I'm not a moderator any more - I'm the head administrator and chief operating officer. If I make a mistake here, I own up to it and admit as much, but unless my calculator software is lying, the numbers I gave are accurate, especially when you factor in that I was looking at two extreme cases - least money and most money coming into your project for it to reach its goal, and an estimate of whether you'd be able to deliver based on just those pledges and nothing else.
I do welcome all collectors, and when I don't like a deck, I state as much. But that doesn't mean that others can't express their opinions - I'm not above my fellow members in any way, shape or form. You're free to promote your deck here to your heart's content and I'll never censor a single word of it, just as I won't censor someone else who doesn't agree with me. You say I was ripping apart Peter Wood - that's not accurate. I was voicing my opinion about his work, and there's a difference. I don't make it personal when I'm commenting on a deck - it's about the work, not the artist.
Know one thing - people will have their opinions. Some will love your deck, some won't. I'm not negative about every deck I run across - few people are. And absolutely none of that matters, because of what it is: an opinion, the opinion of a single person on a forum that adds up to a fraction of a fraction of all the playing card buyers of the world, despite being the largest such forum in the world. I welcome you to remain, be an active member and offer your comments and opinions. I'm not some child who feels he has to hate a person just because he doesn't like their work - I'm more of a "live and let live" kind of guy. People can feel free to disagree with me as infrequently or frequently as they please and I will not hold it against them as a person. After all, I'm just one guy, and an opinionated one at that - not the voice of the entire board. I would never presume to be, because we're just too diverse and interesting a group of people for one sole, unelected representative to speak for them all.
So please, say your piece, tell us the benefits and wonders of your deck project. We're all ears.
