Heres what Ellusionist posted on their FB page!
"There is a rumor that exists within the hallowed halls of Ellusionist. That somewhere within there exists a secret vault containing the mythical creations of Ellusionist. Those rare items that you didn't even know existed. The prototypes. The shadowbox. The uncut sheets. Original Artwork. First Editions. ...and an experiment. All of it speculation of course... But what if it did exist? What if you found your way inside? What treasures could you make off with? Perhaps you'll find out soon. Perhaps you'll be the one to crack... The Vault."

Soooo... Its kinda confusing to me but.... seems like ill have to be saving up some $$$

Seems to be a type of competition, sounds exciting some really nice items appear to be in the vault
Mystery is the basic appeal of magic. Once the secrets are known, the magician becomes a mere manipulator, an actor in a suspense drama which has little impact because the audience knows the ending in advance.

Well it has been said before E does proto decks and uncut sheets, so that is obvious. I think it will be something having to do with the Christmas contest.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
If you've looked at their photos on Facebook as well as some of the cards in their gaff decks, there's a lot of interesting "prototype" stuff they have laying around - as would any design house.  Look at the "MultiMiller" Gargoyles Expo deck.  Sure, it's Gargoyles without the silver ink, but it's also printed on 100% plastic cards and in a short run only intended for distribution at a single design exposition.  I've seen early concept art for the Ghost Ace of Spades and the back of the Arcane deck that looked really cool.  It wouldn't surprise me if they took some of this booty and used it to stoke interest in their "Infinity Series" deck release.  (BTW: Infinity *is* the Christmas deck, right?  Or do they have something else in the pipeline as well?)

I'm pretty sure they have a separate "Christmas Deck" besides the Infinity Series Deck

Nobody just FTP scan their site and check all the folders they have there?  The vault's probably sitting in plain sight right there....

I had a look through every folder, link and resource on their website and couldn't find anything I couldn't access manually.  There was a couple of gifs; one reading 'Nice guess now try another one' or something like that and another reading 'Booya!' but they're in the same font as one asking you select 3 decks for your sample kit, so I'm guessing they're just now defunct buttons.

Anyway, as far as I can tell they haven't uploaded anything to the site regarding this yet.

If I'm not mistaken those pictures CBJ posted are of the "Ellusionist Deck" that they worked on but then scraped the design. I'm sure they have some prototype decks.

Hopefully after seeing this thread people should compare what they are releasing and promoting and what ellusionist scrapped before showing anyone on the net. If the latter is 20 times better, maybe the former shouldn't exist.

I grabbed these off an artist who did work on the Arcane Deck

More people need to take this statement and go nuts with it. Seriously, even some of the major releases (looking at you, Monarchs) are so ridiculously substandard it's insane.

Releasing a decent looking deck is no longer enough. In a community where hundreds of brilliant minds are trying to figure out how to wow their audience, releasing something even remotely "meh" can do you in. However, even something that is "meh" I could support if it was met with humbleness. However, when a company like T11 tries to shove a very average deck like the Monarchs down my throat with the claims that it will change how I view cards forever, that's a no-no.

We're not stupid, I like to think that most of us on the Discourse know exactly what is crap and what is worth investing into. :]
