I'm a fan of Shane's art, but this strikes me as poor form.
A second Kickstarter when he hasn't fulfilled the first -- really?
And offering a lower price on decks than most of the first backers paid for?
He had 185 backers pay $12 in the original campaign and in the second campaign 50 backers are only paying $9.
I don't think he's being dishonest, but this just stinks.

From what I understand of Shane's update on the original KS project, there were a lot of messages from others asking if they could pick up decks after the first project ended. It got the point where basically all of the 1st run was accounted for, with no extras available, so he started another project for those people.

Early Bird Unlimited Deck - 9USD per.
Regular Unlimited Deck - same price point as previous project.
Horror on the Orient Express deck is at the same price point.
Tarot deck is going at the same price.

Look at what he's actually stating; "On track to submitting/approving the finals of The Writhing Dark to Bicycle as soon as the end of this week."

And "I want to address the point that I have been doing other work as well. Namely Pairs and some other side projects. The income from these projects allows me to keep the budget from The Writhing Dark on the level, and to make sure that the project gets fulfilled without any hitches. That said it does take up some time, so I hope you can understand my decisions regarding what I accept and what I pass on while getting TWD out to you."

So he's taking on other projects so that the Writhing Dark doesn't have any hitches, but he hasn't submitted final artwork to USPCC almost 5 months after the project funded at over 100K, and he's started another KS project for the same rewards? Put that together with his messy break-up with Albino Dragon, and what do you get?

What you don't get is somebody who ran out...because production hasn't even started yet.

If people missed out the first time, too bad, that's why they are limited!

You must not have been there when he posted to the project's home page that the deck being printed for this project is the UNLIMITED EDITION...

So, you're not for the idea of a business making money?  Hey, Victor - what the hell do you think Kickstarter and the companies on it are, charities?  Please let me know the next time you're lecturing at a business school - I always love a good laugh.

Nothing is unlimited and as Shane mentioned to me this campaign is to sell off his remaining stock and that is not what kickstarter is for.

In the most technical sense, nothing is unlimited because you don't make infinite amount of it.  But unlimited also implies that if enough interest in the deck existed, the creator could make a new print run and wouldn't be reneging on any promises made about quantity.

The latter part of that statement, I agree with.  Kickstarter was never intended to operate like a store, selling pre-made goods.  It's meant for people who need to raise the money to make the goods.  This is clearly not the case.

Update!

"Hey Gang,

We'll be putting up a massive update with all of the shipping images and what have you here very soon. I wanted to put this up as today is, as a friend pointed out, Friday the 13th.

December and January were largely spent packing and fulfilling small orders (coins, extras, and add-ons) as well as sorting out the delivery for the tarot cards, which still ended up being delayed because of customs issues. Which however has thankfully been sorted (again more to come on that educational experience).

Today we received the last of the TWD cards, the limited decks. Though I've had and posted images of the unlimited cards (which are the same as the Limited) I wanted to post some images for you guys of what will very shortly be arriving in your mailboxes...about 13 months after we got started..

More to come.

Thank you all for your wonderful support, patience and faith.

Shane"
