I'd really like to own one or more of these beautiful decks, but $25 (to the U.S.) for one deck out of the thousands that will be printed is making me think more than twice on this purchase.

That's a seriously expensive deck including International shipping.  I can't see it being insanely popular in the Netherlands and anyone outside of the country will say it costs too much - that's one seriously limited audience.

  • I like birds.

  • Kickstarter:
That is a absolutely gorgeous deck.

But as everyone has said, $25 is a very steep price for a deck.
Maybe the project creator could fulfill the US shipping/deck distribution through a company in the US, like King's Wild. Does anyone know if the USPCC would ship a run of decks to 2 different locations?

If shipping in bulk amounts, yes.  It's the reason that dealers often get KS decks on sale faster than the backers do - they receive a bulk quantity of decks around the same time the project creator (or his/her fulfillment company).  It's a way to save money on the project as USPC ships free domestically, but it annoys backers to no end.

They've been listening. From an update today -

"We have recognised that the shipping will be prohibitive and have accordingly amended our offering to include FREE SHIPPING in USA."

That did it for me, I think this deck is beautiful but I just couldn't swallow the cost before.

Why would they charge for shipping and then change it to free US shipping? Shouldn't they research and know the prices of everything before it is launched on KS?
Really quite beautiful deck though it is a shame international price is so much.

My bet would be that they did exactly as someone suggested, found a US fulfillment company and arranged for them to receive the cards straight from USPC.
