Hello everyone I have not been on the forum in a while I have been working on another deck called Stone Illusion. I decided to put my last deck on hold for a while and do something different. You may have seen this deck on the UC. Stone Illusion is a new deck of Bicycle playing cards. The design resembles a standard deck but still has a lot of custom touches. Including a 4 color suit. I wanted something people could relate to and yet it would still be different. I was also thinking it could be a stripper deck and I have some ideas for some gaff cards. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks Landry

Here are the aces they represent the  Illusion in this deck and Stone was meant to represent the colors.

You don't need gaff cards or a stripper deck.  Most magicians would use a deck that the audience finds more familiar, depending on the type of audience.  While your deck is indeed based on the International standard, it's different enough that general audiences might not relate to it.  It's not even a matter of them thinking it's a trick deck - it's a matter of them seeing the deck and recognizing the design as being like their own cards back home.  The familiarity puts them at ease and leaves them more open to being fooled by a card trick.

The aces represent illusions.  OK, I can sort of almost buy that.  The colors represent "stone"?  You were already stretching it with the illusions - I'm not buying that.

It's not a bad deck, but it needs a better title.

Have you considered making this as an entry in our deck design contest?  The details are in my signature below.

I was not sure about the contest as this deck is not quite finished but yes that would be great I will check it out. The title sounds good I had a couple different ideas for it. Gem Specter, Stone Illusion, Prism Four not sure what theme this deck conveys but so far it's looking good I think. I will try to come up another name.

The name can be more loosely connected with the deck, or tightly related to it.  Just bat around a few more ideas.

You have roughly two weeks left to submit a deck for the contest.  Read the rules if you haven't already.

Possible deck titles Rainbow Illusion, Traditional Illusion, Traditional Rainbow,  Endless Jewel, Don't know if any of these stick out for you but I am still thinking. Thank You Don for your advice.

If you're planning to make an entry, you should change the title of your project and give it the correct tag - as written in the rules.  You want people to know it will be a potential entry because the members of the board here are the people who will be choosing the winner by a vote.

So I have been thinking about this decks title and I think Rainbow illusion works. The deck has the illusion of being a traditional deck and has lots of color.

That could work.  It's better than the first choice, I think.

I really like this one, if you do choose to include a gaff, I would say you should use a blank faced card.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

It might just be the geek in me but every time I see the AoH, it looks like symbol from the Zelda games.

So i have to say this deck is almost finished and looks great. I just have two queens to finish up. Here are the jokers not sure about the lettering in the corners yet. What do you guys think would look good? BTW the LS are my initials.

I've seen "JKR" used now and then to be the Joker index.  There's also the option to place a symbol there, like a dot, a star, a star in a circle, etc.  Finally, many jokers have no index at all.  I prefer something that's simple and immediately understood - no thought processing required, you just glance at it and you know almost as if by instinct that it's a joker because the concept is that deeply ingrained into your memories.

My preference would be to use a symbol or just leave it blank.  Your mileage may vary.

How does it look with a white background?

I like the black myself but maybe there is something that would make the white work.

Seeing all that color on black reminded me of really bad paintings on black velvet...
