Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

It is a nice looking deck, but it's not for me.  The style doesn't get me interested enough.  I was not very big on typographical decks after seeing the first several dozen designs.

  • I like birds.

  • Kickstarter:
I'm a huge fan of typography, but I thought the first decks looked a bit too clunky, and were pretty impractical as a deck of cards. These look very slick. I'll probably be picking one up.

I just hope the back design in better than the first.

I am not sure if I am reading this correctly but it sounds as though a different artist will be designing each card. IMO The 'Playing Arts' deck did this style very well while others like 'Custom 52' are a hot mess, not helped by the poor quality of cards. It may work but I am curious about the 'Artists' and their style and whether backers can get behind a deck that they cannot see.

Actually, it's the same two people who made the Black Book of Cards and the Bicycle Urban Punk decks.  Check out this interview with them...

Thanks for the link, yes I have seen 'the black book', I was referencing "It is the beginning of an artist deck series where you get to see how different artists represent the words you provide" from their website. The 'typography deck' has been done enough times, but I am curious to see what it is all about.

Is the Manifesto deck just a reinterpretation of the Black Book? I agree it looks way sleeker but I'm a bit confused on the theme.

Think of it as a variation on the original theme.

Being new to collecting cards (less than 2 years), I've yet to pick up a Typgraphical deck.  These I could see in my collection.  (Hey, it's a black deck!) In for 2, one Branded, one not.

I liked The Black Book deck as soon as I saw it even though it was difficult to use. The Black Book Manifesto, minor changes have dramatic impact. Indices are easy to see now, makes all the difference in the world to me. While I wasn't a big fan initially of the tuck designs for Manifesto. Now that they've decided to go with a Black linen tuck, I think they'll be much more engaging.

Wasn't a big fan of the little metal doohickey at the start, still not interested in that. Their custom seal for the deck is a kind of cool idea, if it's unlocked. Only 800 clams away at this point, with four days left I think it'll happen. Nice little nod to the crowd funded and crowd created nature of the deck, shows the number of backers supporting the project.
Part of my Collection updated infrequently but occasionally, when I remember. (I haven't in months.)
