The back design



The deck will be printed on high quality stock preferred by magicians and cardist worldwide. The deck will be produced at the United States Playing Card Company... the same guys who make Bicycle® Playing Cards. The face cards will be featuring some of my favorite magicians and card handlers and to make it extra special, the queens will be represented by Singapore's celebrity illusionist, Magic Babe Ning!

Wow, I really like this it is not a traditional deck in some places then it is in others, the creative use of the star/heart/spade logo is really simple, clean and great. Not sure about the repeating queens, maybe laziness got him there but overall a good all around deck, I will definitely be in for one.

I checked out the preview. Wow! that is a lot of tiers. Too many. His pricing structure is way off. Plus every tier is limited. I left a message on the page. I hope he reworks that before he launches. If not, going to be a big mess.

I like the new posses.... but why only one model? It's not consistent. You have all of these skilled men, and then 1 woman? You know there's already a shortage of women in this field, it'd be nice to see some of them recognized.

I understand your comment about just 1 woman.. It wasn't about not having enough.. but I guess I just wanted to break the rules I guess and just highlight one lady at a time because I wanted to do a series.. the fact that there are so little women is part of why I think 1 queen is good.. it gives them extra attention they deserve.. I also liked the idea of showcasing her career within the cards.. I know not everyone will like it.. it's certainly a different approach to a deck. I just hope people give it a chance.. if anything.. it makes the deck that much more unique..

I have other decks coming out after this that follow a more traditional standard.

I understand your comment about just 1 woman.. I've seen so many people make decks that were certainly "unique" - but that didn't always mean they were better.

"It give them extra attention they deserve?"  Them who?  You only have ONE queen!  There is no them.  If you're referring to female magicians, you need to have a "them" before you can give "them" anything, especially attention!  Seriously - four magicians/queens is the way to go, not the same queen/magician in four poses.  Unless you're making a "Magic Babe Ning" themed deck, it makes more sense.

Out of curiosity, did you obtain the rights to use the images of all of these magicians in your deck?  If not, you could end up with a non-starter here.

Maybe he promised her she'd be the Queens and if so, now can't renig on his word? Man, I want to love this deck I really do, but there are just too many things here...

I don't like the initials in the middle of each card making the cards 1 way....

I don't like the same poses for all the Kings and Jacks (especially now that the Queens have four unique poses)

The queens look like art work - intentional - cared for... the men look like heads "glued on" fat bodies.

A deck of cards should be consistent - No consistency here.....

I don't mind a one-way front, especially since it's just two letters in the center of the card.  It's the repeated queens that I find odd, and it appears I'm not alone.

Have you done anything about the queens having the same subject, the kings having the same wardrobe and the jacks having the same wardrobe?  They seem to be the things that people are finding most off-putting.  Otherwise, it's a kick-ass deck you've got on your hands.

As much support as i would like to give MagicBabe Ning (who is also from Singapore!! Shout out!!), I really still agree on having 4 different queens from a perspective of a card collector. Unless like what is already mentioned, you are doing a MagicBabe Ning Deck. Another alternative is to feature one magician each for J,Q,K, with poses maybe from their signature tricks or something, and leave the rest for part 2.

 @jaredkhansen - I see you right sided the AoS on your back.  So, how many of those upside-side T-shirts did you sell?  Usually, ppl read the card top down.  Your upside-down AoS turned me off.  Not saying you can't do it.  You can always break the rules, but it's hard when you have a minimalist deck. I like the new corner badge on the BoC.  I've noticed circles are becoming popular.  I guess circles show up neat in fans.

Wait until you've actually SEEN the deck before commenting.

The deck is NOT minimalist.  That's rapidly becoming the most overused (and poorly-used) word in deck design.

"I like the new corner badge on the BoC."  What the hell is a BoC??  He's not making Texas Cards, there is no Bishop of Clubs!!    (I know, you mean "back of card" - just call it the back!  We usually reserve that abbreviation format for naming card faces.)

As far as the queens.. I couldn't say it before because Ning didn't officially make a statement, but she is retiring from magic, so I was thinking it would make them a collector .. or more so than a normal deck. She is a good friend and thought ti would be neat to highlight the different parts of her career over the last decade.   I just couldn't say it before so..

I am having the Expert Playing Card Company print them and the tuck case will be a cool sideways one.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we're looking forward to seeing the revamped version of this deck.

If you want to do a Magic Babe Ning tribute, then don't just make her an added feature to this deck - make a full-blown deck dedicated to her and her career!  That would be a nice collectors' deck, especially for magician-collectors.
