Hello all,

My name is Will from Oklahoma.  I have always had an affinity for playing card games for as long as I can remember. As a child I learned and played every card game I could and as an adult I am always open to a game of cards with friends or family. Only a year and half ago did I realized the artistry and history that playing cards portray when  I stumbled upon some old congress decks at an estate sale. I have since collected with a fervor.  I have cards of all kinds,  from many eras and genres. I love them all. New or Old it does not matter to me. I stopped counting after 1000 but that's because I add so many so often that it's hard to keep track.  I stumbled upon this forum via a search engine while searching for others with like minds and similar interests.

Welcome Stircrazy. We hope you will enjoy your visits here and feel free to participate in topics that interest you. Based on what you collect I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting topics in The Plethora and other threads. I especially point to to the Cellar of Fine Vintages.

Hey, Stircrazy, welcome aboard.  You've definitely found a place filled with like-minded individuals!

If you are not yet familiar with it, you're going to want to check out Kickstarter.  It's a "crowdfunding" site for people with project ideas - imagine having a great widget you want to make and you need funding, but instead of approaching a bank or an angel investor who will pay for the whole thing, you find thousands of people interested in chipping in varying amounts to get you to your financial goal and bring your idea to fruition.

I mention it because it's where all the thunder and lightning in the custom deck community seems to be these days!  It's rare that they have fewer than 25 playing card projects seeking funding.  Before you go, though, take out your money and take a good hard look at your cash - it might be the last time you ever see it again!  :))

If you have any questions or need help, let us know and we'll see what we can do for you.

Welcome Will!
For every different type of deck you have, I'm sure there is a fan of them here. When you get a chance, post a few pics of your favorites.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I found where you can add pics to your profile and posted a few there. Just some I had taken from my phone when I was in the process of building a display on my walls.

Very cool.  We also have a sticky topic in the Playing Card Plethora dedicated to showing off your collection and your newest acquisitions.

Not too bad for a year and a half.   ::)
I collect them one and all... I have about that many more plus I have an oddball assortment of card games and paraphernalia in a reworked (still in progress) China cabinet that I am also proud of and will post a pic as soon as it is complete. Assuming it ever is...

Welcome Stircrazy from a newbie. I can't conceive of having so many decks, but at the rate you are going you will have to add a room on just to hold your vast collection.
