Hello --
My name is Harry Wyatt. I am a graphic designer in the USA (New York) who has spent much of his life doing things relating to vision and the visual system, and only tangentially related to graphic design. I have been studying and freelancing in graphic design for 5-6 years now, and I recently designed a deck of cards that is currently on Kickstarter ("Suitable Playing Cards"). I got a note that suggested I drop by here and introduce myself. So...  here I am.

While thinking about card design, I ran into Sonia Delaunay's lovely deck. Her . Then, a comment from a designer got me to thinking about the potential role of the suit symbols in card design and I wound up using elements of the symbols as a starting point in creating the card graphics. This is likely to be the only time I venture into card design, but it has been fun.

All the best,
Harry Wyatt

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Welcome aboard, Wyatt.  Hopefully, you'll find there's more of interest for you here.  There's a lot one can do within the design of a playing card to convert it into an art form.

Welcome Harry, Hope you stick around, and catch the playing card bug. Don't give up on cards after 1 deck.  :)
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.
